WWE had an opportunity to build Lana up as a real babyface against the Nia Jax, but missed out for comedy.

Nia Jax vs. Lana is an afterthought, lost to accidental comedy about body parts. After months of putting each other through tables, last week’s Monday Night Raw should have taken the feud somewhere different for Lana. This was supposed to be a story about standing up for one’s self against bullying and achieving your dreams. That’s completely erased with two words: “My hole”.

The Nia Jax/ Lana feud is over. It’s done. There’s nothing left for Lana after what happened on the Feb. 8th episode of Raw and Feb. 12th episode of SmackDown

On Raw, the Internet popped when Nia Jax went for a leg drop outside the ring and fell hard on her rear, stumbling to the floor walking it off yelling, “Oh my butt! My hole”.  WWE apparently wasn’t fond of the moment, bleeping out the words.

She carried the momentum of this infamous moment to SD Live, having the same thing happen sans the comment:

I cannot tell you how many memes, videos, and puns I’ve seen. It made a person once despised for injuring other wrestlers now comedic WWE gold, tapping in to a realm of fan psyche that was glad to see it happen and who finally found a laughable part in Nia Jax’s character. Who doesn’t like to see the bully fall flat on their behind?

Is there any hope for Lana?

Lana has one card to play to revive her momentum after a week of being shadowed by Nia’s accidental fame: Hold on tight to her work with Naomi and build from there. At this point, if Nia isn’t falling on her rear against Lana then people will just tune both of them out, making all those weeks of being put through a table worthless. Maybe this was planned. Maybe this was how they scrap the story and go in different directions. Either way, it’s probably for the best, even if it was months of storyline building and tables lost. This is WWE logic at its best: Go with what’s working and fix it as it goes.
