When It comes to legends, AEW is filled with them, but with the signing of Paul Wight, could he be the legend that puts over the next big star.

On February 24, 2021, it was announced that Paul Wight, best known to wrestling fans as “The Big Show” and “The Giant,” has signed with AEW. Wight was part of the WWE for over 20 years. It was announced that Wight would not only be wrestling but that he would serve as a commentator on AEW’s newest show, AEW DARK Elevation.

When Big Show makes his AEW Debut, he will be 49 years old, which makes wrestling fans wonder what else can someone who has been world champion in two of the greatest wrestling companies of all time being WCW, WWE. In this article, I break down the five wrestlers that Wight should wrestle in AEW.

Wardlow

When AEW first showed us Wardlow he was presented as a monster in a video package. When he debuted on AEW Dynamite, it was in a cage match against Cody, which he lost but had a strong showing otherwise. The match with Cody showed us that Wardlow could be a huge star in AEW. With the arrival of Wight, he would be the perfect guy to get Wardlow over as a monster in AEW. When the time comes for Wardlow to leave MJF, it is important that AEW make him their top babyface because of how much potential he has. A match with Wight could help AEW create a new star.

Eddie Kingston

Eddie Kingston is one of the best talkers in professional wrestling today. If AEW wants to do something special with Eddie having him start a feud with Paul Wight could not only help Eddie, but it could help show that Wight can also be a top talker in AEW. A serious rivalry between Wight and Kingston where Eddie plays the heel and dismisses Paul Wight’s accomplishments in WCW and WWE could be an interesting storyline.

Luchasaurus

For this to work, Paul Wight would need to be the evil giant heel we know he can be if AEW wanted to do Wight Vs. Luchasaurus, the storyline would need to start with both wrestlers having a faceoff that would eventually lead to a match of AEW giants. This match would have a lot of potential because this could be the match that takes Luchasaurus to that next level so that he could be looked at as a top guy in AEW.

Lance Archer

A Lance Archer and Paul Wight match with Jake Roberts being the mouthpiece for Archer throughout the rivalry would make for some interesting AEW television. AEW should have Archer claim how Paul Wight is past his prime and how he only claims to AEW for a check. The Murderhawk Vs. The legendary Paul Wight could be a huge money match for AEW if booked right because it has been a couple of years since we’ve seen two big wrestlers battle it out in a long-term rivalry. Lance Archer would have a right to be mad about Paul Wight coming to AEW because he is AEW monster Giant.

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega is having one of the best professional wrestling runs we’ve seen in years. Kenny is the current AEW world champion and could soon be Impact World champion. As a professional wrestler, the goal is to be a world champion, so I am sure Paul Wight wants to add another World title to his list of world titles he has won.

An Omega and Paul Wight match could be a match that helps establish Kenny as being not only the top heel champion in professional wrestling but a fighting champion that takes on all challengers. With the recent New Japan and AEW partnership, it’s only a matter of time before the bullet club shows up. AEW could have Paul Wight talk about how he was in the original NOW, which the Bullet club copied from and how Kenny wants to live in the past by copying hand signs he helped make famous in the ’90s.
