The five top teams in wrestling today
Tag teams professional wrestling has created some of the greatest moments in history. Being in a tag team can help elevate wrestlers so that they can eventually go solo and become more prominent stars. When it comes to tag team wrestling in 2021, some companies put in more effort than others which is sad because tag team wrestling is genuinely an art when it is done correctly. Across all major wrestling companies, there are some outstanding tag teams, and it is essential to spotlight the best tag teams in the industry. In this article, I will be discussing the five top tag teams in professional wrestling today.
5. The Good Brothers
On July 18, 2020, Gallows and Anderson announced that they signed a two-year contract with Impact wrestling, which was a huge win for them and the promotion. At Impact wrestling flagship event Bound for Glory, Gallows and Anderson competed in a four-way tag team match for the Impact tag titles, which they lost to the North. On November 14 at Turning Point, Gallows and Anderson would defeat The North to win the Impact World Tag Team Titles. The Good Brothers are currently involved in a huge profile feud involving their friend Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. The Good Brothers have become regulars on AEW and have even put their belts on the line against AEW talent. 2021 is looking like it will be a huge year for the Good Brother.
4. Grizzled Young Veterans
When it comes to NXT UK, it is one of WWE’s newest and smaller brands, but they have some of the best wrestlers on the planet. Triple H has made sure to make tag team wrestling important on his NXT brands. When you look around the WWE roster, there isn’t a tag team that plays the heel roles better than Zack Gibson and James Drake. When it comes to big matches, very few deliver in the way that the Grizzled Young Veterans do. As a top heel tag team, these two play their roles so well they could have fit in with the ’80s and ’90s. I am betting that 2021 will be a good year for Zack Gibson and James Drake.
3. MSK
On December 2, 2020, it was announced that Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz had signed a deal with the WWE. On the January 13, 2021 episode of NXT, they would debut and defeat Wes Lee and Nash Carter under the name MSK. The duo would make it to the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament and put on a classic match against The Grizzled Young Veterans to win the tournament. The sky is the limit for MSK because they are a young fresh tag team that has brought new energy to the NXT tag team division that was needed. I am expecting huge things for MSK in 2021.
2. FTR
The throwback style of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood isn’t for everyone; the style that they wrestle is similar to how the wrestlers wrestled back in the golden days of the NWA, which for the older fans is a breath of fresh air. FTR has proved multiple times in the WWE that they’re a class tag team that deserves to be treated with respect. The AEW careers of FTR have gotten off to a great start with them having great matches with Kenny Omega and Hangman Page and eventually having the long-overdue match with the Young Bucks, which they lose. It is only a matter of time before we get the rematch between FTR and the Young Bucks, which should be a match of the year.
1. The Young Bucks
For years now, The Young Bucks has proven that they are the best tag team in wrestling today. The tag-team duo of brothers Matt and Nick Jackson have been putting on good matches in every wrestling promotion that they wrestle in. The young bucks have wrestled in TNA, PWG, ROH, NEW Japan, and currently AEW. The brothers have proven time and time again they when it comes to tag team wrestling in 2021, they are where it starts and ends. The Jackson brothers are currently the AEW champions, and they look to be gearing up for a massive 2021.
