Christian Cage on which wrestlers he would like to face in AEW
While his much-anticipated signing disappointed a few people who cranked up their expectations to unreasonable levels, Christian Cage joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) excited even more fans who followed his memorable runs in WWE and TNA Wrestling (now Impact Wrestling).
Even though Cage has only been an official AEW roster member for less than a week — debuting at AEW Revolution this past Sunday — folks are already speculating and fantasizing about the wrestlers Cage could face in the young promotion.
It’s apparently something Cage has thought a lot about, too.
Christian Cage names the wrestlers he would like to face in AEW.
Speaking with Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Cage said this about his potential dance partners in AEW (h/t to Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert for the transcription):
"“Jon [Moxley] and I have wrestled so many times, but we’ve bonded over wrestling. We never had much communication, but when we worked together, it was like opening a door with him as far as having conversations. I appreciate all the things he’s said about me. He’s got his finger on the pulse of what’s going on. At some point, he and I are going to do something together. I can’t wait because we have great chemistry,” said Christian. “You look at a guy like Kenny Omega. He’s got a reputation for having great matches, so I think at some point that’s inevitable. A guy like Darby Allin, who has that, you don’t know what it is, but he’s got something. The Jeff Hardy cool factor. Young Bucks, obviously Edge & Christian (vs. Young Bucks) can’t happen, but at some point something will happen with them. MJF is super talented. With promos, he gets it. The roster is so young, so being able to get in there and helping some of those guys, that’s what coming back meant to me; helping set up the next generation.”"
Fans got a hint of who Cage could face as part of his first AEW feud on the March 11 episode of AEW: Dynamite, when Cage came face to face with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Cage nearly hit Omega with the Unprettier before the champion’s friend/manager Don Callis pulled him to safety.
