There is an ever-growing list of talents that are considered “misused” by the WWE. Any version of that list would include Andrade. News broke on Friday that the former NXT champion has requested his release from the WWE, first reported by Wrestling Inc.

The news was first reported on Twitter, and additional news outlets such as Fightful also confirmed that the request was made. Andrade was last seen on television in October on Monday Night Raw. While he wasn’t selected as a part of the WWE Draft, and has not been used in any sense on television. The news also included information that he was set to undergo a minor surgery that was going to leave him out of action for at least a month.

Andrade, real name Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza, first joined the WWE in 2015. After a tenuous initial run, his success came when he was paired with Zelina Vega. This led to his winning the NXT title from Drew McIntyre, before being called up to the main roster in 2018. He would win the United States title but would never reach much beyond that, even though he, Vega and Angel Garza were pushed as a top faction when the COVID-19 pandemic first hit WWE tapings.
