AEW Dynamite will present its St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition on Wednesday night.  Last week’s show started up a number of new storylines, saw a major heel turn, and included a jaw-dropping swerve of a conclusion that created a new faction.

This week’s show is sure to further the new storylines that started up last week.  Kenny Omega is guaranteed to have plenty to say about Christian Cage’s actions last week.  With Sting scheduled to appear it is almost a certainty that we will see another interruption by Lance Archer.  Scorpio Sky should be in the building and in front of a microphone as we are in need of an explanation about his post-match attack on the ankle of TNT Champion Darby Allin.  And the man we need to hear from most of all, MJF, will surely be on hand and be very blunt in explaining to us, and The Inner Circle, the thinking behind his actions last week.

In addition to all of that, we have five scheduled matches on tap as well.  Let’s take a look at those matches and what to expect from each.

Cody Rhodes vs Penta El Zero Miedo

After handily defeating newcomer, Seth Gargis in short order last week, there was an exchange of words between Cody and Penta.  What started as trash talk turned personal when Penta brought Cody’s unborn child into the conversation.   At that point, Cody had heard enough and the fight was on.

With Rey Fenix and Pac next in line for a tag team title shot against The Young Bucks via their Tag Team Battle Royale win at Revolution, it was imperative that AEW found a single’s program for Penta.  Cody was the perfect pairing as other than trading barbs with Jade Cargill and Shaq, he really hasn’t been in a program as of late either.

I would like this match to be the first step in what will be an ongoing feud between these two stars.  My preference would be a double count-out or something of that nature.  However, AEW rarely ends matches in any fashion other than a pinfall or submission.  That being said, look for the Prince of Pro Wrestling to score the pinfall over the Lord or Lucha Libre, in what is hopefully the first of multiple encounters.  Winner: Cody Rhodes

Jade Cargill in action

Fresh off her debut in an AEW ring, Jade Cargill will be in her first singles match tonight.  This will most likely be a semi-squash against an AEW Dark regular, possibly Vertvixen or Tesha Price.  Cargill looked good in her debut and it looks like AEW is going to move her forward into her first singles feud.

There are a number of possibilities as to who this may be against.  Big Swole, Leyla Hirsch, Tay Conti, Serena Deeb, and Riho are all viable options.  As is giving Red Velvet another crack at Jade in a singles program.   Who gets the program will be determined by how quickly AEW wants to move Jade up the ranks.  If they want to continue to bring her along slowly Tay Conti or Leyla Hirsh makes sense.  If the goal is to promote Cargill as a major player sooner rather than later then Riho, Serena Deeb, or Big Swole may get the nod.

It makes more sense to put Cargill in the ring with someone experienced that can continue to help her development on the fly.  If Deeb’s knee is fully healed then she would be the best choice.  If not, I would guess a Big Swole/Jade Cargill feud is in our future.  Winner: Jade Cargill

Jurassic Express & Bear Country vs Matt Hardy, Private Party & Butcher & The Blade

Last week Matt Hardy introduced us to the newest members of his team, Butcher and The Blade.  This is hardly a surprise as these 2 have been used as mercenaries since their arrival in AEW and for now, they will do the bidding of Matt Hardy.

This will most likely be a wild event that will be too much for one referee to control.  It wouldn’t make much sense for Hardy to bring Butcher and The Blade into the fold and then to turn around and lose the very next week.   Hardy’s investment in his new muscle will pay off this week.  At some point, the match will break down and Hardy’s team will pick up a victory, most likely with either Butcher or The Blade picking up the pinfall.  Winners: Matt Hardy, Private Party, Butcher & The Blade

Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston vs The Good Brothers

Moxley and Kingston will look to gain some measure of revenge when they take on the henchmen of Kenny Omega, the Impact Tag Team Champions, The Good Brothers.

For months, The Good Brothers have been there to have Kenny Omega’s back and ensure that Jon Moxley is unsuccessful in regaining the AEW Championship.  With the program between Omega and Moxley seemingly pushed to the side, for now, it would make sense for Moxley and Kingston to go after tag team gold in the form of the Impact Tag Team Titles.

A victory for Kingston and Moxley here may put them in line for a future title match.  And since Moxley has been unable to take down Omega, he will settle for the next best thing in attempting to dethrone The Good Brothers.

It has been a rough couple of months for Moxley and Kingston.  This match will be the first step on their road to revenge.  Winners: Moxley & Kingston

Thunder Rosa vs Britt Baker

The intense rivalry between Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa will come to a head in the main event of this week’s Dynamite when they battle in an unsanctioned, lights-out match.

This type of match is in the favor of Britt Baker.  The unsanctioned lights-out nature means anything goes.  And it is much more in the character of Baker to receive outside help than it is Thunder Rosa.

The fact that these women are main eventing Dynamite is a story in itself.  The women’s division of AEW has been long thought to be the weak link in the chain that is All Elite Wrestling.  However, that is no longer the case.  The company has built up a women’s division to be proud of and this match will be a bright and shining example of that.

Thunder Rosa will spend a lot of this match fighting off both Baker and Rebel (Not Reba) and she will look to have the match in hand.  Until the interference of Nyla Rose.  Nyla will turn the tide in Britt Baker’s favor and this will allow everyone’s favorite dentist to secure the victory.  This will hopefully move Thunder Rosa on to a feud with The Native Beast, and Britt Baker, at long last, will move on to Hikaru Shida and the AEW Women’s Championship.  Winner: Britt Baker
