Andrade released from the WWE
WWE Fastlane was on Sunday, but perhaps the biggest news of the night was that WWE released Andrade from his contract.
At nearly 11 pm EST, WWE took to Twitter to announce that they had come to terms with the release of Andrade, giving him the standard text of wishing him the best in his future endeavors. This comes after news broke last week that Andrade requested his release from the WWE. At the time, it looked like the WWE was not going to honor his request, but in the time up to the WWE Network special, something changed the decision.
Andrade tweeted earlier in the night that he had some “good news” but did not reveal what that news was.
Andrade was last seen back in October where he was defeated by Angel Garza. There were moments in Andrade’s WWE run that it looked like he was going to be pushed into the main event picture, but that never came to pass. Back in NXT, he defeated Drew McIntyre for the NXT title and put on a classic match with Johnny Gargano before dropping the title to Aleister Black.
Before his tenure with the WWE, Andrade had picked up titles in organizations such as NWA, New Japan, CMLL and others. As of this report, there is no news as to where he will turn up next, and it is expected that he will have the standard 90-day no-compete clause.
