While they aren’t the most talked-about team on the block, The Varsity Blondes are destined to be a household name soon enough.

The Varsity Blondes are a throwback and a tribute wrapped up into one. The son of Brain Pillman pays tribute to his father every chance he gets. Brian Pillman Jr is a spitting image of his father in 2021. He has been working with All Elite Wrestling as early as May 2019 at AEW’s inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing. However, he wouldn’t start a lengthy run until July of 2020.

After Major League Wrestling temporarily shut down due to the pandemic, Pillman like several others found a home in AEW. Unfortunately, he was mainly used as an enhancement talent for the majority of his start in the company. However, the second-generation superstar wouldn’t stay in that place for long. Pillman Jr began teaming with another young star named Griff Garrison a few months later.

The two young stars instantly meshed well together even though they didn’t have an official team name. They were initially still used as the team to get the other teams over. However, the two young, talented stars weren’t trying to be kept down. They were too talented and charismatic to stay down for too long.

A few months into their teaming, Pillman Jr and Garrison started being known as “The Varsity Blondes.” The team name is a play-off and tribute to Pillman’s father team with Steve Austin known as “The Hollywood Blondes.” With their new name set and some sweet new theme music, the team picked up a win in their first match with the new name.

This was a sign of better things to come for the young stars. Since then, Pillman Jr and Garrison have continued to put in consistent work. They have been winning as a team on AEW’s Dark show. However, they are still struggling to pick up wins on the main roster. Despite that, they have shown that hard work does pay off in the end.

I am positive that The Varsity Blondes will soon enough be a top team in All Elite Wrestling. They are both still young and learning more every day. They are in a company with multiple wrestling legends, including multiple tag team specialists like Matt Hardy, Christian, and Arn Anderson to name a few. With the guidance that is around them, it is almost harder for them to fail than to succeed.

Brian Pillman Jr is still partially working in Major League Wrestling. The company could possibly be waiting for both men to be “completely” All Elite for a true push to happen. If not, the fans how shown interest in both stars alone and together they make a good match. The fans were once chanting who Griff Garrison was, now the world knows exactly who he is.

Soon enough, he could be known as one-half of the AEW Tag Team Champions. Most of the “top teams” in the company have had their runs with the titles at this point. Now that many of those teams are caught in stable warfare, this could be the time for The Young Bucks to put over a young team over, and drop the titles.

Now, where could we find one of those? *cue in The Varsity Blondes* We can admit that they still have work to put in and experience to gain. However, they look to be the team of the future and we could soon see Brian Pillman Jr holding tag team gold like his legendary father. Could Griff Garrison possibly be the next “Stunning” Steve?
