Three things AEW fans want to see from the upcoming Rampage show

AEW Rampage should feature some big names, but not to the point of burnout

A big mistake that wrestling companies have made in the past upon adding additional programming is to hold off on featuring main event stars more often than not.

Of course, this mindset is rooted in saving the big names for bigger shows — particularly pay-per-views. That isn’t a terrible impulse to have, but applying this philosophy too dogmatically comes with the risk of rendering the secondary show as something less than appointment TV.

As such, Rampage should avoid this pitfall as much as they can. Now, this doesn’t mean that the show needs to exclusively focus on the top talent (more on this in a bit), but sprinkling in big names now and then would ensure that potential viewers don’t immediately dismiss the show as the company’s equivalent of WWE’s Main Event show or even what SmackDown was before the second brand split in 2016.

That said, this will depend on the expectations Turner and AEW have for this second show. Ultimately, that will determine who appears on this show and who doesn’t. Still, it would be nice if this didn’t devolve into the company’s B/C-show; that’s what AEW: Dark and Dark Elevation are for. But they don’t need to overdo it.
