AEW Double or Nothing was the moment that many wrestling fans were waiting for, as All Elite Wrestling welcomed a packed house to Daily’s Place for their PPV event. The Casino Battle Royal was one of the featured contests and fans were excited to see who the special entrant from the Joker position would be. It was none other than Lio Rush.

Lio Rush is a talented competitor that has performed across multiple organizations including WWE, MLW, and New Japan. He is currently the MCW Rage television champion but was recently the MLW middleweight champion up until a few weeks ago.

At just 26-years of age, Rush may be best known for the years where he was a part of the WWE roster. During that time, he would hold the NXT Cruiserweight champion for 60 days, beating Drew Gulak for the title in October of 2019. He would put together defenses against Akira Tozawa, Kalisto, and Angel Garza, before dropping the belt to Garza in December of that same year. Rush also found some usage on the main roster, where he was paired with Bobby Lashley to serve as his mouthpiece.

Unfortunately for Rush, his time with the WWE came to an end in April of 2020, as he was a part of the initial WWE roster cuts that were attributed to the COVD-19 global pandemic.

Rush was eliminated from the match thanks to a triple-team effort from Matt Hardy and Private Party. As of the PPV, there was no word as to whether this was a single appearance or if Rush was signed to a longer-term deal.
