Chyna is the first name that comes to mind when you talk about the modern era of women’s wrestling. “The Ninth Wonder of the World” made women’s wrestling look relevant again with her performance between the ropes, becoming the only woman to win the Intercontinental Championship.

Chyna took part in various intergender matches during her run in the WWE (then WWF). She got offered an opportunity to work in WCW’s New World Order, but before it could materialize, things worked out well for her in the WWF. Triple H and Shawn Michaels introduced her to Vince McMahon, but Vince didn’t seem interested in the idea of a woman beating men in the ring.

Vince initially thought that the audience would not like that idea, but it became the best decision made by The Chairman of The Board. Her physique distinguished her from other female superstars. Chyna was trailblazing her path and inspiring women to become wrestlers and not a reason for a bathroom break or anything that didn’t put women in good light. Her work with D-Generation X brought the focus on her as a person and a performer.

It will be interesting to learn more about her from the people that knew her the best without the whitewashing tilt that has become commonplace in the documentaries that the WWE creates.
