WWE SmackDown Predictions: Kevin Owens Will Reunite With Sami Zayn

WWE SmackDown is the gift that keeps on giving every Friday Night. On this week’s WWE SmackDown, there is one scheduled tag match: Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy. Also, Sami Zayn attacked Kevin Owens after his Intercontinental Title Match against Apollo Crews last week. Will Kevin Owens continue to be Sami Zayn’s arch nemesis and fight him forever in the mid card? Or will he finally understand Zayn’s conspiracy theories and join him in his quest towards insanity and possibly their first tag team titles?

Speaking of which, WWE is four weeks away from WWE Hell in a Cell 2021. There is only one match scheduled for this PPV event from SmackDown’s side of things: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title. Based on WWE’s recent bookings on Friday Nights, it is expected that the following matches will be built up for the PPV: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rey Mysterio for the Universal Title, Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins, Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Title, and King Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the King’s Crown.

With that being addressed, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on June 11, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy [Tag Match]

On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Street Profits and Alpha Academy had a few backstage altercations. Chad Gable called attention to the Street Profits’ lack of momentum lately because their stock has dropped ever since losing the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. When the profits are up, Ford and Dawkins want the smoke. However, when the profits are down, they spit fire. The Street Profits came back from this by calling attention to the Otis’ lackluster momentum ever since he started teaming with Chad Gable.

The main issue here is whether Alpha Academy will lose and Otis will finally break up with Gable after realizing Street Profits were right about Gable or Alpha Academy will win and give Profits a wake up call to prove that profits are truly on a downward slope. The latter is more likely since the WWE cannot afford to lose any more tag teams. Street Profits actually need to revamp their game plan in the tag division to fulfill their journey of regaining tag team gold. Meanwhile, more heel tag teams, like Alpha Academy, need momentum in order to challenge the babyface Mysterios.

What’s Next For Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn?

‘Karma did it.’ Sami Zayn won’t be denied because all he got left is his pride (and his conspiracies). Indeed, he attacked Kevin Owens after his Intercontinental Title match with Apollo Crews last week. It seems that Zayn really wants Owens to see the conspiracies he is seeing. Since both Owens and Zayn have already lost so many times in the mid card, there’s the alternative to team up and target the tag titles. They don’t need to get along or agree to be a tag team. All they need is a compelling story, and these two have enough history together to back up their story as a unit.

Like was done with Team Hell No in the early 2010s and RKBro currently, Owens can remain a babyface and Zayn can remain a heel. The dynamics of their gimmicks will speak for itself. The more Owens hangs out with Zayn, the more he might believe in Zayn’s conspiracy theories. Alternatively, the more Zayn hangs out with Owens, the more he might realize that these conspiracy theories are illusory and that he has probably gone completely insane. Stay tuned for more of these WWE SmackDown Predictions on Daily DDT.
