Throughout her nearly four years on the main roster, Ruby Riott was best known for her time alongside Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan as part of The Riott Squad, which later morphed into a tag team with Morgan when WWE released Logan in 2020.

While the trio/team never won any championships during their run, they filled the necessary utility midcard heel role against the likes of Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, and The Bella Twins. Riott and Morgan occupied the same role as babyfaces chasing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

With Riott no longer in WWE, however, she seems ready to try something different for the next chapter of her career.

Ruby Riott talks about wanting to move forward as a singles wrestler.

Appearing on the Wrestling Perspective podcast, Riott said this about embarking on a singles run while not entirely ruling out starting a team with someone else (h/t to Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert for the transcription):

"“It’s been a long time and I want to see if I still have it as a singles competitor. It’s more about proving it to myself and if I can still go without Liv Morgan doing her flippy stuff and me giving a hot tag. I’d like to return as a singles, but I’m not opposed to the aspect of a tag team. It’d be hard to tag with anybody that isn’t Liv [Morgan] or Sarah [Logan], but I’d be open to it.”"

Riott was released on June 2 as part of WWE’s most recent round of mass roster cuts. Her last win with the company came on the Jan. 1 episode of SmackDown when she and Morgan defeated Natalya and Tamina in a tag team match. In singles action, her last win occurred on the Nov. 6, 2020, edition of SmackDown, beating Natalya and Zelina Vega in a triple threat match to qualify for the SmackDown women’s Survivor Series team.

Of course, Riott — primarily under the name Heidi Lovelace — enjoyed plenty of success as a solo act prior to her time in WWE, holding championships in promotions such as Chikara and Ohio Valley Wrestling.
