AEW Dynamite: Saturday Night Dynamite Preview & Predictions
AEW Dynamite will take place on Saturday night this week and be headlined by an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and Jungle Boy.
This will be the second time that Dynamite has aired on a Saturday. The first Saturday edition of Dynamite ended with the late Mr. Brodie Lee squashing Cody Rhodes to become the second-ever TNT Champion.
While it will be hard to capture the same intrigue and shocking ending that we saw the first time that Dynamite aired on a Saturday, there are still plenty of matches to be excited about on this upcoming show.
Let’s take a look at the announced matches on the card and what we can expect from each of them.
What will happen on Saturday’s episode of AEW Dynamite?
“Hangman” Adam Page vs Powerhouse Hobbs
Starting off any episode of AEW programming with Adam Page is never a bad idea. “Hangman” will continue his feud with Team Taz, this time in a singles match versus Powerhouse Hobbs.
With Ricky Starks unable to compete due to a neck injury, Brian Cage seemingly on the verge of leaving the faction, and Hook yet to make his AEW in-ring debut, Team Taz is basically Powerhouse Hobbs right now.
Usually, a significant numbers advantage would lead to a tainted win of some sort for Hobbs, but the sheer dysfunction of Team Taz at the moment almost leads to Hobbs having a disadvantage.
More chaos and conflicting ideologies within the faction will most likely lead to a distracted Hobbs. And a distracted Hobbs will be a prime target to endure a Buckshot Lariat, leading to a “Hangman” victory. Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page
Matt Sydal vs Dante Martin
One-half of Top Flight will try his hand in a singles match this week, as Dante Martin will go up against Matt Sydal in a rematch from a past episode of AEW Dark, in which Sydal scored the pinfall.
Sydal has put on some extraordinary matches on Dynamite in the past few months versus the likes of Kenny Omega and Christian Cage.
But in Martin, Sydal will have to overcome a different type of challenge. Martin is just 21 years old and flies around the ring with reckless abandon, much like Sydal used to do in his younger days.
Sydal is a different type of grappler now. While he still can fly when needed, his mat game has improved immensely as he’s aged.
If there was ever a time to push Sydal, it is now. He is in the prime of his career and is more well-rounded as a performer than he has ever been before.
Martin’s time will come. He and his brother may be tag team champions in the not-too-distant future. But on Saturday night, Sydal will earn a second straight victory over Dante Martin. Winner: Matt Sydal
The Bunny vs Kris Statlander
In what should be a really fun match in AEW’s women’s division, Kris Statlander will take on the Bunny.
Bunny’s character has really evolved since joining the Hardy Family Office. She seems to become more unhinged and maniacal with each passing week while also getting her confidence back in the ring. Bunny even holds a pinfall victory over Tay Conti, albeit in a tag team match.
But this should be a spot where a new challenger to Britt Baker begins to emerge. After Baker ends her feud with Nyla Rose, Statlander would be the perfect next challenger.
Statlander is in a very popular faction with the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy and with AEW going back on the road, Baker and Statlander could have a match that would have a packed house totally invested, as the booping alien tries to take down the arrogant champion.
So because of the potential in that match, the Bunny will have to wait a little longer to start climbing the women’s rankings. Winner: Kris Statlander
Jungle Boy vs Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship
Well, let’s preface this by stating the obvious: Jungle Boy is not winning the AEW World Championship from Kenny Omega on Saturday night. However, that should not make you any less excited about this upcoming match.
After Darby Allin and MJF, Jungle Boy is the most exciting “homegrown” talent that AEW has as far as potential goes.
In a high-profile one-on-one match just two months ago, Jungle Boy and Darby Allin put on one of the best TNT title matches of the year to close out an episode of Dynamite.
Kenny Omega is one of the best in-ring performers in the world, so the potential for this match to be one that we are talking about for months to come is most definitely there.
It is very likely that these two talented performers will make the most of it.
Omega will continue to build heat by crushing the dreams of one of the more popular young stars on the roster. On the other side, Jungle Boy will continue to build his popularity and momentum into an all but guaranteed future singles run, most likely in the form of a TNT Title reign. Winner: Kenny Omega, and anyone that tunes in to watch this match
