WWE Officially Leaves The ThunderDome

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US, it forced the WWE to continue their live shows without their beloved WWE Universe. In August 2020, the ThunderDome made its official debut. The ThunderDome was a virtual fan experience where hundreds of screens portrayed an actual live crowd. On July 10th, 323 days after announcing the brand new fan experience, WWE officials would begin taking it down.

If I had to describe the ‘ThunderDome’, it was a good idea on paper but turned out to be a failed experiment. I had the opportunity of being a part of the first-ever ThunderDome and my personal experience was nothing to be excited about. I was given time to log in and the moment I did, I was thanked for joining and was not allowed back in. Seeing a live crowd return for WrestleMania 37 made me wish the ThunderDome era ended right then and there instead of continuing on for another three months.

The return of fans has me excited more than you think. The COVID-19 pandemic is still going on but it seems like we’re slowly working ourselves into normal life. The ThunderDome era was easily better than seeing superstars perform in front of a no-capacity crowd but it’s also an era that I’m more than happy is in the past.

WWE is scheduled to officially go back on the road on Friday, July 16th for Friday Night SmackDown in Houston, TX. That weekend will also consist of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Fort Worth, TX, and Monday Night RAW in Dallas, TX.

WWE has announced a large number of cities that they will be bringing weekly shows to as well as the untelevised Live Events.

WWE has announced the following cities in the month of July for their upcoming tour:

  • July 16 – Houston, TX – Friday Night SmackDown
  • July 18 – Fort Worth, TX – Money in the Bank
  • July 19 – Dallas, TX – Monday Night RAW
  • July 23 – Cleveland, OH – Friday Night SmackDown
  • July 26 – Kansas City, MO – Monday Night RAW
  • July 30 – Minneapolis, MN – Friday Night SmackDown
