Impact Wrestling: Five multi-promotional matches for Bound For Glory
During Slammiversary, Impact Wrestling announced that its next PPV would be Bound for Glory on October 23rd in Las Vegas. In a video promoting the show, they teased a multi-promotional event that would also feature some of wrestlings biggest names from All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and AAA.
This news made even more sense when the show closed out with NJPW star Jay White staring down Kenny Omega as Omega and The Good Brothers Celebrated “The Cleaner’s” successful Impact Word Championship defense.
The Impact women’s division would also deliver some surprises, as Mickie James and Thunder Rosa made appearances at the event, which showed fans that Impact and The NWA also have a working relationship.
These are five inter-promotional matches that should happen at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory Pay-Per-View.
5. X-Division Champion Josh Alexander vs. AAA Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid Vs. AEW’s Sammy Guevara
Josh Alexander retained his Impact X-Division Championship in a breathtaking, high-risk Ultimate X match at Slammiversary, but at Bound for Glory, if he wants to make history, he should defend his title against two of the best wrestlers in the world today. When fans think of high flyers, they often bring up Sammy Guevara and AAA cruiserweight champion Laredo Kid because both wrestlers have shown that they can deliver when it comes to being in big matches.
4. MJF vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
This is a match that should happen because it would show that not only is MJF one of the best talkers in wrestling today, but also that he can wrestle when put in the right match. When it comes to MJF, all his matches so far in AEW have been built well with excellent storylines. Tanahashi is one of the most liked wrestlers in NJPW and has built up a promising career as a top babyface in NJPW. This is an old-school storyline where the villain can battle the babyface to prove who the best is.
3. Jon Moxley vs. Kota Ibushi
Two of the most prominent professional wrestlers in the world today are Jon Moxley and Kota Ibushi. This is a match that both companies could put together, and they would go out and deliver a good match. This would be a wrestling dream match for many fans because of how loved both wrestlers are. This is the type of match that could sell thousands of tickets and really bring eyes to Bound for Glory.
2. Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa III
Dr. Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa had not only a legendary matchup but, as of right now, the best wrestling match so far in 2021. Baker and Rosa put together an excellent Lights Out main event match on AEW Dynamite, but they should go further than that and continue their rivalry at Bound for Glory. The NWA and AEW should make these two women be attached because they have magic when they are in the ring together. Britt Baker is the women’s wrestler that fans will be talking about for years to come to the AEW women’s division.
1. AEW & IMPACT World Champion Kenny Omega vs. NEVER Openweight Champion Switchblade Jay White
The ending of Slammiversary left many fans wondering why Jay White is in Impact Wrestling. The leader of the Bullet Club confronted AEW and Impact World Champion Kenny Omega who is also a former member of the Bullet Club. The two men already have a long history because of Jay White defeating Omega for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.
Omega doesn’t have that many Impact Wrestling wrestlers with star power to work with, so a match with Jay White would be significant for AEW, IMPACT, and NJPW. The buzz that White created by just appearing at Slammiversary should be enough of a reason for why Impact should make this match their Bound For Glory main event.
Impact Wrestling has a history of creating big moments at Bound for Glory because that is their version of WrestleMania, and for the first time in a decade, this feels like this could be a wrestling event that rivals WWE’s biggest show.
