WWE Wrestling Rumour Roundup: Lashley versus Lesnar and more
By Amit Shukla
Wrestling is abuzz with information that may be true or just a hoax to keep the fans involved. CM Punk and Bryan Danielson‘s signing with AEW is one such aspect, and if this week’s Darby Allan promo is any indication, it looks like Punk may be on his way to the new company. While rumors keep going across over weeks, and some come to life while others are merely hypothetical.
Superstars getting injured or looking for a change is the new normal as wrestlers want a new space for their career, and that’s seemingly possible with a new option in AEW. In this article, we look at four news items. So without further ado, let’s get down to it:
Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley not planned for SummerSlam
It’s evident by now that Bill Goldberg is next for Bobby Lashley. The fans are not ok with it, and they have a valid reason behind it. WWE knows that the fans want this match, and so does the WWE Champion, but they are concerned about Brock Lesnar losing to the champion.
Meltzer noted on WON that WWE doesn’t want Brock to job to Bobby because he is a superstar who can sell tickets, but to use those sales for a loss will not be the right decision. The company plans for a Reigns vs Lesnar bout with Heyman in the center. It looks like the idea is in vain as Lesnar hasn’t returned, and Bobby has a new challenger.
Bayley may get a new role during her injury
Bayley is out of action for a total of 9 months, but that’s a long time, and with the women’s division on the blue brand less in numbers, it becomes all the more valuable for her to be in some capacity. Can she become a manager? The big question is, who will she manage? Sasha Banks doesn’t need a manager, and neither does Bianca Belair. Carmella may move to Raw soon as Cory Graves is on Monday Nights, and the company usually keeps couples on the same show.
If that happens, Bayley will have no one to manage and no one to wrestle with, but she can be a good fit besides Michael Cole. According to WON, this may be the new path for The Role Model until she makes a return. She and Cole have a funny storyline going on, and with the two together behind the commentary table, it would be fun to watch and hear every week. If you recall what Triple H did when he took on commentary duties with Cole, the experience will exemplify.
The Scoop Behind Mandy Rose’s switch
God’s Greatest Creation was on the Black and Gold Brand and is now a roster member. While some speculated that she was there for a visit, the ever-reliable WrestleVotes confirmed that this was a trade between two brands, where Mandy Rose moves to NXT while Aliyah moves to Monday Nights.
Mandy’s move to NXT shocked the world, but it all comes full circle. Dana Brooke is reportedly pregnant and would be out of action for some time. Mandy Rose would need some time to build herself up, and a stint on NXT could be the pedestal for a push in the main event picture on Monday Nights.
Aliyah broke her association with the Robert Stone brand, and we will have to see when she shows up on Raw. Rose, on the other hand, can harness her skills before she moves to Raw. She can then feud with her former Fire and Desire team member and current authority figure, Sonya Deville.
Sonya had to leave WWE for a couple of months after Deville lost the ‘Loser Leaves WWE’ match but returned in an authority figure a few months later. A feud between them will be a breath of fresh air in a stale division that has seen rematch after rematch and performance that goes downward spiral.
