The free-agent market in professional wrestling is booming. News broke on Wednesday of a potential signing to All Elite Wrestling that will further boost the organization’s women’s division. Fightful Select reported that Ruby Soho, formerly known as Ruby Riott, is planned to join the organization.

Soho was last seen in the WWE, where she was unceremoniously released from the organization in a wave of roster cuts that have persisted since the COVID-19 outbreak began in 2020. Her last televised performance was in May, where she was teaming with Liv Morgan on SmackDown. Her release hit a lot of fans hard as she was one of the women on the roster with a strong following.

Since being released, Soho has not appeared on any major media platforms for interviews and maintained a very low profile. Some recent images have appeared of her with a fresh look, leading to speculation that her wrestling return is imminent. Fightful had not confirmed the news with All Elite Wrestling at the time of publication.

Soho was recognized as one of the pillars of the women’s division. There was a point in 2018-2019 where she was a central figure in helping Ronda Rousey transition into the world of professional wrestling. Fans consistently called for her and Morgan to obtain the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles, an accolade that they were unable to obtain.

Soho would be a major boost to the AEW women’s division. The group is stacked with strong names including the likes of Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, Big Swole, Red Velvett, and others. Soho could immediately be inserted into key feuds at the top of the card, while also providing key insight to help in the development of names like Jade Cargill. She has an incredibly unique look to her and abilities to deliver from bell to bell, all aspects that were underutilized during her run in WWE.

When Ruby Soho was released from the WWE, fans immediately thought she would be a terrific addition to the AEW women’s division. If the news released today comes to fruition, the coffers in AEW just became that much stronger with a key free-agent acquisition.
