AEW: Five potential women who might be “The Joker” at All Out

The women’s Casino Battle Royale is making its return on September 5. It will be on The Buy In prior to All Out. The winner will get a shot at the AEW Women’s World Champion.

So far, nine entrants have been announced. The first woman announced was former women’s champion, Nyla Rose. “The Native Beast” is not new to the Casino Battle Royale as she won it in 2019.

During Dynamite, it was announced that Thunder Rosa, Tay Conti, Big Swole, Red Velvet, Julia Hart,  The Bunny, Diamanté, and Penelope Ford will all be participating.

The Joker spot is coveted in AEW battle royales

The return of the women’s Casino Battle Royale will give much of the women a chance to shine. Hopefully, we’ll see KiLynn King. She has been a mainstay on Elevation and Dark. She was the only woman to participate in Cody Rhodes’ Friendlympics that occurred over several weeks on Sammy Guevara’s vlog. “Kling Kling” was awarded a spot in the Nightmare Family (along with the other contestants, Fuego Del Sol, Baron Black, Preston “10” Vance, and Red Velvet–who didn’t actually compete in the Friendlympics).

Kiera Hogan could be a participant. She appeared three times in a week, including a match against Jade Cargill on Rampage. They seem to be impressed with and she’d be an excellent entrant.

With 21 participants, the most anticipated spot is “The Joker”. It’s a surprise entrant and always fun to predict who it will be. In 2019, that entrant was Mercedes Martinez. Since she was released from WWE this year, could she make her return in the same spot where she debuted?

Let’s take a look at the possibilities for this year’s coveted spot of “The Joker”.

5. AJ Lee

This is a long shot considering that the former Divas champion retired in 2015. In 2014, she suffered a neck injury at Survivor Series. While it’s unknown if Lee even wishes to return to the ring, it hasn’t stopped fans from asking where she is. Could she be another reason that CM Punk chose AEW? Was she part of the deal for him to agree to come back? We shall find out in just a few days.

4. Mickie James

Another former champion was released by WWE earlier this year. Since then, James has been busy promoting and elevating women’s wrestling. She is behind EMPOWERRR, the all women’s wrestling show happening on August 28. The following night, she will face Kylie Rae at NWA 73. The woman behind “Hardcore Country” has been appearing in IMPACT. Could she be the first woman through the Forbidden Door and debut in AEW?

3. Allie Katch

Allie Katch is one of the biggest names in indie wrestling. Gone is Allie Kat and now we have the deatchmatch queen and one half of Bussy. She is having an excellent run right now. Does she even want to be in a major company? Maybe not, but it would still be cool to see, even if it’s for a short run. Most of us never thought Nick Gage (or even RSP) would step foot in an AEW ring, so crazier things have happened. If she were to win, Allie Katch would be unlike anyone Britt Baker (assuming she retains at ALL OUT, of course) has ever faced.

2. Ruby Soho

Since her release from WWE, Soho (fka Ruby Riott) has been posting fun, cryptic videos. In one video, she strongly hints that she will be debuting at Grand Slam, AEW’s big show at Arthur Ashe Stadium. That show isn’t until September 21. Perhaps the video is a red herring and she is actually the surprise entrant in the Casino Battle Royale.

1. Jordynne Grace

The former IMPACT Knockouts champion & tag team champion has been openly frustrated by the lack of women going through the Forbidden Door between IMPACT and AEW. She has said that she’s “more disappointed than anything”. IMPACT Knockouts champion Deonna Purrazzo has also been vocal about the women not getting the opportunity to go through the open door.

Maybe “Thicc Mama Pump” will be the finally be the one to kick the door open for the women. After all, she had one of the most memorable moments from the Over Budget Battle Royale at ALL IN when she powerbombed Brian Cage and eliminated him.
