Over the last few months, Mickie James has been making tremendous moves in the NWA and the wrestling circuit in general. She has a vision for women’s wrestling and it has raised the excitement for current women’s wrestlers. Her vision sets the groundwork for the rest of this year and beyond for everyone involved.

Mickie James has a vision for growth in NWA and beyond.

James doing this work for the women’s division comes as no surprise to most wrestling fans. When she won the TNA Knockouts Championship back in 2011, she made history as the first to win the Knockouts, WWE Women’s, and WWE Divas Championships.

That reign came to an end when she lost the title to Winter, which at the time was a surprising victory for a highly underrated wrestler. Winter never had a moment of holding a title in a major promotion until that moment. It resulted in a highly underrated rivalry where they traded wins and losses against each other.

Fast forward to 2018, more evidence of James’ vision came to light as she teamed with Alicia Fox against Trish Stratus and Lita on WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution. James took the match to the very limit in an emotional final round against her two greatest rivals.

The match meant everything to her as she went above and beyond. Even though the match wasn’t the main event, it felt like the main event, as James held her own against the two Hall of Famers.

That brings us to today with James as a member of NWA. Every fan knew it wasn’t the end of the line for her following her release from WWE, but fans were not ready for what James had in store for wrestling next.

She has been making moves in the NWA and Impact Wrestling. It’s poetic since Impact Wrestling is the company where fans truly learned about who Mickie James is as a wrestler and a person.

The women’s division has gone through major changes and there are more opportunities than a few decades ago. There are many wrestlers who would have fallen under the radar due to a lack of opportunities, but now, they have chances to reach an audience through various shows and promotions.

James currently has the reigning Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo on her radar. Purrazzo is a wrestler who almost fell under the radar after she wasn’t given a fair chance to show how great she is in the ring in WWE.

It’s symbolic that a visionary Mickie James comes head to head with someone who chased the vision. This rivalry is an example of the strong spirit and a drive to hit that next level of excellence.

That’s what Mickie James wanted all along and she is working hard not just for the present but for the future. What she is doing now with an all-women’s pay-per-view for the NWA, EMPOWERRR, and another for Impact Wrestling is the beginning of consistency for women’s wrestlers where it’s annual events and not a one-off.

What once seemed like something impossible for women’s wrestling is now very possible. A fan could try to predict what the future holds, but it always exceeds expectations just like what has been happening with Mickie James and various women’s divisions.

Fans will marvel at how far women’s wrestling has come when future stars and events emerge. It doesn’t end with what has happened recently, though; there’s still more, and fans are living in the era where it’s all coming to fruition.
