WWE SmackDown Results September 24 from Philadelphia, PA

The show opens with a shot of the crowd inside the Wells Fargo Arena. The SmackDown Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, then makes her way to the ring. A video recap is shown of Bianca Belair’s homecoming from last week.

Becky and Bianca verbally go back and forth about each other’s accomplishments, with Bianca saying she achieved what Becky did in a quarter of the time. In the end, Becky slapped Bianca and Belair responded by attacking ‘The Man’ and delivered a KOD to get her revenge for last week. The two face each other this Sunday night at Extreme Rules for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Backstage, Nakamura Rick Boogs are rocking backstage, and Toni Storm joins them. The Intercontinental Championship is on the line next.

King Nakamura w/ Rick Boogs vs. Apollo Crews w/ Commander Azeez for the Intercontinental Championship

A promo from Apollo Crews is shown during his entrance as he looks to regain the IC Title. Towards the end of the match, Boogs takes out Commander Azeez outside of the ring. This shocked Apollo. Nakamura then managed to pick up the victory to retain his Intercontinental Championship. This sent Pat McAfee wild on the announce desk!

Winner: King Nakamura w/ Rick Boogs to retain the Intercontinental Championship

A recap is shown of The Bloodline appearing and winning on Monday Night Raw against The New Day.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Montez Ford. No sign of Angelo Dawkins tonight. Montez says that The Street Profits will take back their SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Extreme Rules. Ford then rips into Roman Reigns about his treatment of The Uso’s and calls The Usos ‘bloodline b*****s!’

Backstage, we cross to Roman Reigns sat with Paul Heyman. After hearing the promo, Reigns wants Montez Ford tonight. Heyman initially disagrees, but then changes his mind when he realizes Reigns wants it.

Backstage, Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce are walking through the backstage area, when Paul Heyman interrupts them. Pearce says they can make the match between Reigns and Montez Ford. Heyman says after the match they can talk about the WWE Draft after Pearce brought up Brock Lesnar.

A video recap is shown of Seth Rollin’s promo from last week. Seth Rollins is sat backstage and says he is a patient man and says he has heard nothing from Edge about his ultimatum. He says the sound of Edge’s silence is deafening.

Rollins says Edge must be hurt bad, but says it’s not good enough and he wants an answer. Rollins says Edge needs to show up to SmackDown next week to tell him to his face that he is superior in every way and not ‘Edge-lite’. Seth says he will find Edge where he sleeps and beat the words out of his mouth in front of his wife and children if he doesn’t show up.

Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega

Before the match begins, Carmella joins the commentary team for the match. Late in the match, Carmella distracts Liv which allowed Zelina Vega to deliver a sunset powerbomb and beat Liv Morgan. It marks Zelina first win in WWE since she returned following her release last year. Liv faces Carmella this Sunday at Extreme Rules.

Winner: Zelina Vega

A video is shown of Happy Corbin trying on different suits in Philadelphia earlier in the day. Happy Corbin then makes his way to the ring for the world premiere of ‘Happy Talk’. Corbin initially discusses how happy he is. He welcomes his first guest: himself. He says he is the happiest person in the entire world.

He talks about how rich he is and even mentions he’s back to eating Wagyu beef! The fans start chanting ‘We don’t care!’ as a video is shown of Corbin attacking Owens last week. Of course, Kevin Owens makes his way out to the ring.

Owens is then attacked making his way to the ring by a hooded man, who turned out to be Riddick Moss. Owens tries to fight back but Moss and Corbin send Owens into the steel steps. They then drive Owens onto the steel steps. Both guys laugh hysterical. It definitely made them happy! Interestingly, they gave that segment the key top of the hour time slot.

Backstage, Montez Ford is interviewed again and Kayla asks if he regrets his comments from earlier. Ford says he doesn’t regret it. He says he’s going to do what he does best and tonight. He wants the smoke.

It is revealed that Edge has tweeted to say that he will be at SmackDown next week to answer Seth Rollins. Are we getting the final Rollins-Edge match in Saudi in a few weeks?

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Nikki A.S.H. w/ Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya w/ Tamina

The quickest match of the night so far, but another distraction finish. Nikki A.S.H. beats Natalya after a distraction from Rhea Ripley going after Tamina. After the match, Nox and Shotzi come out in their tank and shoot their cannon into the ring. Looks like we’ve got our next contenders.

Winner: WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Nikki A.S.H. w/ Rhea Ripley

Backstage, Dominik Mysterio tells his father Rey that he nitpicks every week. Rey says he will give him some space as he’s not thinking right. Sami Zayn then comes in and says there is nothing to be ashamed.

Zayn says Dominik has the tools and says Dominik got better and better every time they stepped into the ring. Zayn gives him some advice to start listening to Rey a little less and start trusting instincts a little more.

Naomi makes her way out the ring. This show is loaded with SmackDown women’s roster tonight. Apparently, she’s not scheduled to compete tonight but has made her way out for a match. Naomi speaks on the microphone says she came to SmackDown to compete but Sonya Deville refused to put her in a match.

Naomi says she’s been disrespected, fined and insulted but she wants a match tonight. Naomi issues an open challenge. Sonya makes her way to the stage and says it is not going to happen. Naomi then challenges Sonya.

Sonya says she’d ‘smack the glow’ off Naomi’s face. Naomi tries to get her to make the match and Deville cuts her mic and audio. Sonya then brings out security to remove Naomi. She says WWE has given Naomi chance after chance and she’s dropped the ball. She tells her to go out and ‘TikTok her way to obscurity’. The fans make their feelings known by booing Deville.

Backstage, Roman Reigns is ready and is walking through the corridor with The Usos and Paul Heyman. Chad Gable and Otis then stop The Uso’s and look at their tag team titles.

Backstage, Becky Lynch talks to the camera. Lynch says Bianca is the dumbest. Becky says she’s going to make Bianca suffer at Extreme Rules. She says she’s not going to just beat her, but break her.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns w/ Paul Heyman vs. Montez Ford in a non-title match

Mid-way through the match, Ford takes control. He climbs on the announce table and table collapses as both men are on the outside. It appears that may have been used a little later in the match. Ford puts in a super impressive performance but he is not able to withstand the guillotine choke. Reigns wins via submission.

Winner: Universal Champion, Roman Reigns

After the match, Paul Heyman calls for the SmackDown Tag Team Champions to come out to finish off Montez Ford. Heyman called for the extreme in the home of extreme in Philadelphia. Reigns grabs a steel chair and repeatedly hits Montez Ford on the canvas.

The Uso’s set up a table outside of the ring (I’m guessing this is where the announce table should have come in) and Reigns puts Ford through it. He asks ‘who’s the b*tch now?!’ The lights then go out and The Demon appears on the top rope and he dives onto The Bloodline.

He then grabs a kendo stick and begins to use it. The Demon and Reigns end up in the ring and The Demon hits Reigns with it. He then flies outside of the ring onto Reigns. Reigns faces Finn Balor in an Extreme Rules match for the Universal Title this Sunday.

Next. Big E vs. Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley exceeded expectations in the main event. dark
