This week’s AEW Rampage featured Bryan Danielson vs. Nick Jackson, a three-way dance with Nyla Rose, Jade Cargill, and Thunder Rosa, and Orange Cassidy facing Jack Evans in a Hair vs. Hair match.
AEW Rampage wasted no time jumping right into the wrestling with Bryan Danielson making his entrance.

Danielson tried to chase down Jackson to catch him early on in this match, but Jackson avoided him and used his speed to avoid him. Nick Jackson mocked Danielson with the cold spray, but ate a dive from Danielson. Jackson got out of a surfboard stretch. The fans chanted about Jackson getting his head kicked in, and Danielson countered a springboard into a cross-arm breaker.
Danielson continued to work over Jackson with arm submissions, making the crowd groan in pain with how Danielson ripped at the shoulder and arm. Jackson was able to use an armdrag to escape and then dodged Danielson’s corner dropkick to send him crashing to the mat. Matt Jackson attacked Danielson on the floor behind the referee’s back.
Nick Jackson did a sledge from the top rope to the floor and posed like Macho Man. Nick Jackson hit some hard strikes in the corner and then a bulldog. Nick Jackson tried to do the kicks like Danielson would, and it only made Danielson angry, as he ate them. Danielson stood up and spit in his face before killing him with chops and kicks.

Jackson German suplexed Danielson on the apron and then hit a dive to the floor before locking on the Sharpshooter in the ring. Danielson dragged himself to the ropes and went to the floor.

Result: Bryan Danielson
Rating: ****1/2 (4.5 stars)
This match was awesome. Nick Jackson is underrated as a singles wrestler, and Bryan Danielson is truly one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Both guys delivered huge here.
After the match, The Elite ran out to check on Matt Jackson, but before they could attack Danielson, The Jurassic Express & Christian Cage made their way out to the ring to even the odds, and a brawl broke out that ended with Kenny Omega trapped in the LeBell Lock, and Adam Cole in the Snare Trap, and both of them tapped out and the crowd roared with the babyfaces getting a visual win over the heels. This was awesome.
Powerhouse Hobbs introduced a video package where Ricky Starks talked about Brian Cage and how Starks was upset at the idea that because Cage was big, that he could suddenly beat people up. This furthered the storyline they have had going with Cage, and I really liked the quality of the video.
A CM Punk video aired, and it was excellent. He talked about his first two matches and how the only thing that let him beat Hobbs was experience. He mentioned that people are going to be gunning for him, and he would rather bite off more than he can chew and choke, than settle for mediocrity. Excellent promo.
Jade Cargill w/ Smart Mark Sterling vs. Nyla Rose w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Thunder Rosa
Rosa started this match fast, doing a bulldog that drove Cargill into Rosa’s knee. That looked brutal. Rosa went for a crossbody on Rose, but Rose caught Rosa and hit a slam before Cargill and Rose exchanged forearms. Cargill hit a pump kick that dropped Rose. Rose was dumped to the floor by Cargill, but Cargill ate a missile dropkick from Rosa.
Rosa hit a dropkick on Cargill and then a second one to the chest before putting a trash can on Cargill and driving the can into her face. Rose broke up the pinfall attempt, but Rosa sent Rose into a spinebuster from Cargill. Cargill hit a pump kick on Rosa before Rose hit a neckbreaker on Cargill, but Cargill didn’t bump right, and ended up falling with most of her upper body on Rose’s shoulder. Not sure who messed that up completely, but it could have been both.
Rose tried to powerbomb Rosa to the floor through a table, but Rosa countered a hurricanrana attempt from Rose with a powerbomb off the apron through the table. Cargill hit Rosa with a chair a few times, with the first one being the best shot. Cargill was clearly hesitant to use the weapon, but used it a few more times to get the win.
Result: Jade Cargill
Rating: ** (2 stars)
They tried to have Cargill learn in this one, but she still has a way to go before she is ready for long matches. Rosa did her best to keep the match together, as Rose and Cargill had some rough moments, but when Rosa was working with either one, it wasn’t bad.
Malakai Black cut a promo on Cody Rhodes, and made it seem like he was going to try and take Cody to the dark side, and he promised there was a lot more destruction to come. This was very good.
A video aired hyping the match with Sammy Guevara and Bobby Fish for the TNT Title next week on Dynamite.
Mark Henry did a split-screen promo with Jack Evans, Matt Hardy, and Orange Cassidy. Hardy claimed that the hair vs. hair match was Jack Evans idea. Cassidy claimed he had no idea what was going on, which got a huge pop, and when he found out it was a hair match, he said he supposed he wasn’t going to lose.
Hair vs. Hair: Orange Cassidy (Best Friends) vs. Jack Evans (Hardy Family Office)
Cassidy got a huge pop for his entrance, but Evans took advantage of a distraction from Hardy to roll Cassidy up. Evans missed a leaping kick, and Cassidy hit his weak kicks to draw Evans into a backslide for a 2-count. Evans distracted the referee and Matt Hardy pulled Cassidy to the floor and hit him with a punch.
Evans hit a kick off the apron onto Cassidy, and then hit a 450 splash off the apron onto Evans. Cassidy made his way back into the ring before the 10-count, but ate a suplex for a 2-count. Evans and Cassidy exchanged some cradle attempts, but Evans hit a flying kick to hurt Cassidy. Matt Hardy attacked Cassidy behind the referee’s back, but Cassidy eventually got his revenge with a dive onto him and then one on Evans, too.
Evans hit a standing Sky Twister Press for a 2-count and went to the ropes for a top rope Sky Twister Press, but Cassidy dodged rolled into a tornado DDT. Cassidy Went to the top rope hit a diving DDT off the top rope, but Evans kicked out. Butcher, Blade, & The Bunny came down to ringside, but Chuck Taylor, Wheeler Yuta, and Kris Statlander came through the crowd.
The entire Hardy Family Office then came out, but the Dark Order came through the crowd to keep them from getting to ringside, and Evans turned around into a huge Orange Punch that sent him flipping backwards for the 3-count.
Result: Orange Cassidy
Rating: *** (3 stars)
Angelico tried to make the save for Jack Evans, but the Dark Order scared him off. The show went off the air as Matt Hardy left Evans hanging, and after shaving part of Evans’ head, the Dark Order and Best Friends all hugged -1 as the show went off the air to the delight of the crowd.
Show Rating: *** (3 stars)
Excellent edition of AEW Rampage, with the pattern of the biggest drawing match going on first for the show, and giving it the most time. Danielson and Jackson was excellent, while the rest of the show was quite good with the promos and other matches.
There were a few shaky moments in the three-way dance with Cargill, Rose, and Rosa, but it wasn’t too bad, and Orange Cassidy vs. Jack Evans was quite fun. All the promos furthered storylines and set up future matches, leaving me wanting more, as I can’t wait for AEW Dynamite next week.
