AEW Rampage: The Men of the Hour and Junior dos Santos win main event

Fright night was set for more than anyone’s fair share of professional wrestling and sports entertainment. Bryan Danielson versus Minoru Suzuki and Bobby Fish versus Lee Moriarty was set for the Buy-In, and that was just the appetizer. AEW continued to build momentum with yet another exceptional show for AEW Rampage.

Tay Conti versus Santana Garrett started things off on the Buy-In.

The two women lock up with Garrett getting the headlock. They exchanged some kick dodging until Conti went to her judo to land two throws. Garrett responded with two arm drag takedowns and the two women faced off in the middle of the ring.

Conti rolled into a submission, using a variation of a calf slicer. Garrett broke out and landed a knee but ended up running into a boot to the face. Conti went back to the judo and landed a kick to the face. After some more maneuvering, Garrett landed a punch to the face to rock Conti, before hitting the back elbow in the corner. She landed a float over suplex for a two count.

The two women had the same idea after Conti hit the ropes, faceplanting each other by the hair. Conti missed a pump kick in the corner, but she didn’t miss the second attempt as Garrett came off the ropes. She hit three more before planting Garrett with the DD Tay to pick up the victory.

The next match of the night was Lee Moriarty versus Bobby Fish.

Lee and Fish started out trading strikes in the middle of the ring where Fish went to his grappling. Both men exchanged some strong positions, but when they got back to the feet Fish landed some strong strikes. Focusing on the arm he continued to attack but Moriarty exchanged positions to the go-behind.

Moriarty went for the first pinfall, but Fish kicked out at one. Fish forced Lee back into the corner then used the dragon-screw to pull Moriarty out of the corner. Fish continued to remain in control, landing a springboard senton and a snap suplex but neither earned him the pinfall. Moriarty landed some strikes to the midsection before Fish hit a stiff knee and a shot to the leg.

Moriarty finally got some offense of his own, capping things off with a kick to the face and a double stomp for a two-count. Lee and Moriarty are firing back kicks and punches, until Fish lands a roundhouse into a suplex. Moriarty answered with his own suplex, but again Fish kicks out at two. Fish floated over in the suplex for a choke but Moriarty countered. Fish hit a leaping knee strike for two.

Fish landed an exploder suplex into the ropes. The roundhouse kick to the head for the win gives Fish his first victory.

Bobby Fish defeated Lee Moriarty via pinfall.

A gigantic special match was booked between Bryan Danielson and Minoru Suzuki.

The two men lock up in a knuckle grip with Suzuki getting the early advantage, forcing Danielson to his knees. Danielson turned the position around, using the wrist lock to force Suzuki down. Suzuki snaps Danielson to the mat and then attacks his neck. Danielson reverses and gets to Suzuki’s legs, rolling for a kneebar.

Suzuki backs Danielson into the corner but Danielson comes out with the low shot, then uses a dragon screw to get the match down. Danielson kicks Suzuki in the leg but he gets a laugh in response. The two men end up exchanging strikes in the middle of the ring. They continue to exchange chops and kicks to the chest, with neither man backing down.

Suzuki lands a nasty forearm and Danielson face plants. Danielson gets back up and fires off kicks then elbows to the head. They end up outside the ring and Suzuki drops Danielson again with a straight punch to the face. They roll back into the ring where Suzuki remains in control, focusing on Danielson’s arm.

Suzuki attempted to throw Danielson into the ring post but Danielson reserves it, sending his head into the metal. He answered with a running knee strike off the apron. Danielson lands kick after kick to Suzuki before stomping away on his head. Danielson hits Cattle Mutilation but uses it to roll into a pin that Suzuki kicks out at two.

Danielson continued to roll until a boot from Suzuki, followed by his own kicks to Danielson’s chest. They go back to strikes with Danielson getting the better of the exchange. Suzuki rolls into an armbar attempt but Danielson gets to the rope.

Danielson takes over with the LaBell lock but Suzuki rolls into the rope to get out. With both men back to the feet there are more punches, but Suzuki allows himself to eat punches from Danielson. Suzuki drops Danielson but he gets back to his feet and they are going shot for shot. Suzuki attempts to lock in the sleeper and nearly hits the Gotch-Style piledriver. Danielson kept up the pace and lands the knee to the face for the victory.

CM Punk and Matt Sydal started the night off.

Punk snaps Sydal over with a headache first and Sydal answers with an arm takedown. Punk hits a shoulder block to drop Sydal. Sydal hits three takedowns in a row into a pin attempt for a two count. The two men exchange more counters until Punk drops down for a pin attempt and a two count.

The two men lock hands and Punk gets the advantage, standing over Sydal. Sydal rolls through with a series of submission attempts. Punk continues to assert himself, landing a big slam in the middle of the ring. He goes for another and Sydal counters, then hits a sliding kick. Sydal rolls through for a pinfall but only gets two.

With Punk grounded, Sydal focuses on his opponent’s legs. Sydal went for the Lighting Spiral but Punk counters with a dropkick. Punk was rolling until Sydal landed a stiff kick to Punk’s face, dropping him. Punk answers back by slamming Sydal on the ring apron, taking the fight to the outside. They get back into the ring with Punk hitting a senton for a two count.

The two men end up on the top rope, exchanging blows until they both fall to the floor. They end up inside the ring with Punk going for a suplex but Sydal counters, hitting a series of knees for a two count. Punk countered the Lighting Spiral again, this time hitting a neck breaker. Punk hits a knee in the corner but can’t finish Sydal.

Punk is caught on the top rope with a Hurricanrana but Sydal only gets a two count. Sydal locks in a submission but Punk sits through into the Anaconda Vice. Sydal gets to the ropes to break the submission. Punk avoids some strikes but the roundhouse to the head lands, dropping him to the mat. Sydal hits the Lightning Spiral and Punk kicks out at two.

Sydal comes off the top and goes for the crucifix, but Punk counters to hit the GTS and picks up the win.

Ruby Soho and The Bunny were up to go one-on-one.

The two women lock up and Soho backs The Bunny into the corner. She attempts to do it again but The Bunny uses the hair to switch the position. Soho lands a kick to the body followed up with two arm drags. The Bunny blocks the third, throwing Soho to the ground. Soho answers with a knee and goes for the pin but The Bunny kicks out at one.

The Bunny lands a knee to Soho’s face, dropping her to the mat. The Bunny spikes Soho’s neck int the turnbuckle, going for a pin attempt for two. Soho was hurt in the corner and The Bunny continued to roll out the offense.

Back from commercial both women are down on the ground after Soho hit a Flatliner on the floor. They start exchanging shots but Soho takes over, landing forearms to knock The Bunny back into the corner. Soho plants The Bunny’s face into the corner and hits a shoulder tackle to the midsection, followed by a running kick.

The Bunny went for a fireman’s carry but Soho counters. She climbs to the top but Soho attacks the legs before kicking her in the face. The Bunny hits a German Suplex from the top for a two count. Soho counters the next move to land a backslide for the victory.

Ruby Soho defeated The Bunny via pinfall.

The main event of the night featured The Inner Circle taking on The Men of the Hour and Junior dos Santos.

Sammy Guevara and Scorpio Sky start off with Sky dropping Guevara with strikes. Guevara rolls through for a pin attempt, finishing off the transition with a kickoff the top. Guevara continues to pick up the pace, hitting a dropkick after a back flip before tagging in Chris Jericho.

JDS is in the ring and lands numerous body blows, pushing Jericho back into the corner. Jake Hager comes into the ring and they exchange takedown attempts. JDS lands a teep in the corner and is pummeling Hager until he hits a double leg. JDS counters and hits a knee strike to force Hager back into the corner.

Jericho ends up outside the ring and face-to-face with Jorge Masvidal. Ethan Page takes advantage of the moment to attack. Back in the ring, Page is in full control with a grounded Jericho. JDS is back in and continues to pound away on Jericho before tagging out to Sky. Page is back in and the teamwork continues to mount against him.

Jericho finally gets some offense rolling, landing a crossbody from the top on Sky for a two count. Sky bounces right back up and laid Jericho out with a punch to the head before tagging in JDS. Guevara gets into the ring and starts rolling, laying out all three opponents. Jericho continued the momentum, but the violence ended up going outside the ring. Hager hits a Uranage through a table outside the ring.

Jericho went for the Codebreaker and Sky countered. But that ended up with Jericho hitting the Walls of Jericho. Paige VanZant made the distraction so Jorge Masvidal could land the knee strike. Sky picks up the pinfall.
