It has been revealed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that the Ring of Honor video library is currently available to the highest bidder. He also noted that the library has been available for over a year now.

All Elite Wrestling could be interested, seems the library contains a lot of their current stars, plus the footage to the All In event from 2018. AEW, according to the report, holds the rights to the name, but they don’t have the content from the event.

According to the report by Justin Barrasso, ROH is asking for much more than the current market dictates, which is delaying any move to obtain the library.

Whether WWE would be interested remains to be seen. Of course, the company has a huge archive of footage from promotions gone by, and Ring of Honor would add to that. The company could eventually release the content on Peacock and WWE Network if it the library fell into the hands of Vince McMahon.

On Wednesday, the Ring of Honor announced that they would be closing their doors, for now, and releasing all of the talent currently under contract. They will have one final show in December, Final Battle, before the hiatus. Many RoH took to social media to praise the company for the handling of their business, particularly during the height of Covid-19 pandemic.

Ring of Honor awaits a suitable buyer for their video library

From the outside looking in, things don’t seem to be going swimmingly inside the RoH camp. After such positive PR from their handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, things have somewhat taken a drastic turn. The revealing of the video library is available adds somewhat of another nail to the coffin to Wednesday’s announcement. The fact that the library has been available for over a year, and hasn’t been sold yet, shows the promotion is holding up for something they believe is the true value. Either way, it is sad to see what one of pro wrestling’s finest promotions since the early 2000s is dealing with right now. Here’s hoping they bounce back in 2022, somehow, as reported.
