The AEW Full Gear pay-per-view has come and gone and it is time to look back and dissect what we witnessed on Saturday night.

Full Gear had its work cut out for it from the start as it was the promotion’s follow-up pay-per-view to All Out, which was widely thought of as one of the best professional wrestling pay-per-views in recent history.

And while it was never going to be able to deliver the number of surprising debuts that we saw at All Out, the overall match quality of the Full Gear show may have been the best that the promotion has put out in 2021.

From the buy-in match to the main event, (nearly) every match lived up to its potential on this stacked card.

And while it is tough to narrow down what the top three moments of the Full Gear show were, let’s give it a try.

Let’s take a look at the top three moments of AEW Full Gear.

Jay Lethal is All Elite.

Jay Lethal has held every title a male wrestler could possibly hold in Ring of Honor and will now try his hand in AEW.

There are those that will say that Jay Lethal is past his prime.

And they have an argument.

Lethal was widely regarded as one of the top talents in all of professional wrestling in 2016 when PWI ranked him the number five wrestler in the world in the PWI 500.

In 2019, he was holding strong at number 16.  But this year Lethal found himself at number 110.

While PWI rankings aren’t the end-all, be-all of a professional wrestler’s ability, it does show a decline in the publication’s opinion in Lethal’s performance over the past 5 years.

Even so, AEW has had a way of reviving those that some may consider as being on a decline.  And while it seems like Lethal has been around forever, he is only 36 years of age and has a lot of good wrestling left in him.

Don’t be surprised if Jay Lethal is a main event player for All Elite Wrestling.

Darby Allin and MJF prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are pillars of AEW.

The first match on the Full Gear pay-per-view card featured these two young combatants and they really did a great job setting the tone for the entire card.

These two men play their roles to perfection.  MJF is the insufferable heel that has yet to find a level that he won’t sink to in order to achieve his goals and Darby Allin is the scrappy antihero that is capable of winning any match because of his never say die attitude.

These two men put on a match that had some strong technical wrestling and also some brutal spots.  And the psychology of the match was absolutely spot on throughout.

MJF would win the match via the use of the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but the result of the match was just a small part of the story.

The more important thing to take away from this match is that MJF and Darby Allin aren’t just two of the best young wrestlers in the world, they are two of the best wrestlers in the world, period.

And the next time we see these two go one-on-one it may just be for the AEW World Title.

“Hangman” Adam Page is the new AEW World Champion.

In a story years in the making, Adam Page finally realized his dream of winning the AEW World Title from his former tag team partner, Kenny Omega.

This match was about as close to perfect as you can get.

“Hangman” Page winning the AEW Title, from his former partner that abandoned him was perfect.

The fact that the Young Bucks came out for the match’s conclusion, not to interfere, but to seemingly be in Page’s corner for his big moment was fantastic.

And finally, the Dark Order, who have been instrumental in Adam Page’s rise back to prominence, and eventually earning this title shot, coming down to celebrate with Page was just the perfect image to end the pay-per-view on.

Next. Shalonce Royal could be a huge addition to AEW. dark

AEW continues to knock it out of the park and Full Gear was no different.  While no show or promotion is perfect, it is about the consistency of high quality.  And as of now, AEW is head and shoulders above other promotions in this aspect.
