The WWE releases continue to come. News broke on Thursday that WWE cut a number of names from the roster.

First reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful via Twitter, WWE came to terms with John Morrison, Top Dolla, Ashante Adonis, Isaiah Swerve Scott, Tegan Nox, Drake Maverick, Shane Thorne, and Jaxson Ryker. These releases come on the heels of another set that hit at the end of the third quarter, yet another moment in 2021 when many names were released from the roster. According to additional information from Sean Ross Sapp, budget cuts were cited as the reason for these releases.

Morrison is the biggest name on this list. As a multiple-time champion in the promotion, he recently returned to the WWE back in 2019 and had another successful run paired alongside The Miz. His wife, Franky Monet, was among the group of individuals that were released a few short weeks ago.

The most surprising group of releases were the remaining members of Hit Row. Scott, Dolla, and Adonis were recently moved from NXT to WWE SmackDown during the WWE Draft and were expected to be a central part of that show. They had a successful run on WWE NXT where Scott earned the NXT North American Title. B Fab was released earlier in the month in a month which left a lot of fans surprised.

Maverick was consistently featured on television as a part of the 24/7 title picture, recently competing against Reggie in a losing effort. Nox was a part of a successful tag team with Shotzi Blackheart until that team was split during the WWE Draft, and she wasn’t featured on television again. Thorne was a part of the maligned RETRIBUTION and when that group was split up, he was not featured on television either.
