WWE Day 1 2022! This Nick Khan production is only one week away from Christmas this Saturday. Although there are plenty of contrived storylines being built, there are some potential show-stealing matches on this card that will be thrilling to watch. The following will provide predictions for the eight matches that are purportedly scheduled. Without further ado, here are the full match card predictions for WWE Day 1.

WWE Day 1 will take place on January 1, 2022, at 8 p.m. E.S.T., live on the WWE Network. Here are the full match card predictions.

Edge vs. The Miz (w/Maryse) [Grudge Match]

CM Punk vs. MJF could very well the feud of the year, and Edge vs. The Miz will have to be the ‘less famous’ version of that feud. Our Amit Shukla already expounded on why Edge vs. Miz is not working as a major storyline. Edge only has five matches each year, and this feud with The Miz is an absolute waste of time. Edge could be spending his time elevating stars like Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Damian Priest, and Finn Balor, all of which would be fresh feuds on Raw. The Miz already had an established career, and neither needed to wrestle each other.

Also, The Miz took so many losses before dancing with the stars that he has absolutely no business defeating Edge, who has been rebuilding his momentum for a future world title shot after defeating Seth Rollins in their trilogy earlier this year. Due to the involvement of Maryse, there has been speculation about continuing this feud towards a mixed tag match with Beth Phoenix involved, but it would be best for everyone if Edge merely moved on to a fresh opponent after defeating The Miz at this event.

Prediction: Edge

Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss (w/Happy Corbin) [Grudge Match]

It’s questionable why this match would warrant a spot on the PPV because Madcap Moss has been booked as a habitual loser and is thereby not even in the same league as Drew McIntyre. Nonetheless, this is very likely a match used to gradually build up McIntyre for a future Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania 38. McIntyre is truly the only full-time main eventer on SmackDown who has a chance at dethroning the Tribal Chief, so he should be protected with no funny business here. In fact, this victory should be a squash.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre
