COVID-19 continues to have an impact on professional wrestling events.

WWE made major changes to its live events that were scheduled for Sunday, December 26. Big E, Bianca Belair, Bobby Lashley, Zelina Vega, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch were all pulled from the show at Madison Square Garden due to COVID effects.

Changes also hit the show in Tampa, Florida where Roman Reigns, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Xavier Woods were pulled for the same reason.

Rollins was the only individual of that group when he tweeted on Sunday “Merry Covid Christmas to me!”

On December 22, Pro Wrestling Insider reported that multiple on-air and backstage performers were “feeling run down and some have since tested positive or COVID-19.”

This situation comes as the Omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to push a surge of new cases throughout the United States.

WWE’s first PPV of 2022, titled WWE Day 1, is scheduled for Saturday, January 1 from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. At this time, no changes have been announced for that card, but there’s growing concern that a change in the situation can have an impact.

WWE struggled with multiple Covid-19 breakouts throughout the global pandemic, especially throughout 2020.
