If the Forbidden Door is really open to the WWE, these are three women that should walk down the ramp.

Who is coming down the ramp? That’s the question everyone wants to know heading into the 2022 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble. Mickie James’s addition to the event has fans’ minds racing as speculate if this means the “Forbidden Door” is open for the biggest promotion in the wrestling industry. Daily DDT has presented three coveted options for surprise men’s entrants, and it’s time to do the same for the women with these three names that would blow the roof off the building.

Deonna Purrazzo

Fans were caught off guard when James was announced as an entrant into this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match. James was one of the wrestlers released in 2021 and her treatment during her exit was very public. Imagine a situation where WWE not only brings her back for this event but another former WWE employee who has been on her own exceptional tear since leaving the company.

Purrazzo was released from the WWE in 2020, early during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Since then, she’s been on such a great run it’s hard to argue against her being the top women’s wrestler in both 2020 and 2021. If Kenny Omega was the belt collector, that nickname should shift over to Purrazzo as she remains in the hunt for multiple titles across wrestling. WWE missed big time on her use when she was signed and allowing her to walk through the Forbidden Door would be huge.

Mayu Iwatani

At 28-years old, Mayu Iwatani is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world – full stop. The two-time World of Stardom Champion was once on the radar for the WWE but was not signed to the promotion at the end of the discussion. With names like Asuka, Io Shirai, and Kairi Sane signing to the company, Iwatani would have also been a massive get if utilized properly.

But not signing with the WWE hasn’t slowed her down one bit. She continues to put on some of the best matches in wrestling and has become equally known for the insane bumps she takes while entertaining. Imagine a moment where Iwatani would be in the rumble with both Shirai and Asuka there to welcome her. They would easily blow the roof off the crowd and that is just one of the many reasons why she’d be an exceptional “Forbidden Door” surprise.

Britt Baker

Just like the idea of Kazuchika Okada, the wrestling world would melt if AEW Women’s World Champion was included in the 2022 Royal Rumble. Imagine hearing “3…2…1 The Doctor Will See You Now…” The fallout would be massive and people would talk about that moment for the rest of the year.

While Baker’s run as champion has stalled a bit in recent months, she’s still one of the most talked-about wrestlers on AEW’s roster. Her match with Thunder Rosa in 2021 set the tone for her current run and her growth as a wrestler in such a short amount of time is enjoyable to watch. Wrestling fans will dream but seeing her in a WWE ring while being the AEW champion would be a historical moment.
