Wrestling Rumour Roundup: Jeff Hardy turns down an offer, Triple H Health Update and more
By Amit Shukla
The professional wrestling industry is filled with rumors and news every day. Some pieces pan out, while others, not so much. Each week at Daily DDT, we look at some of the most interesting, and under-the-radar rumors that fans and personalities should look out for. With that in mind, here are some of those stories around popular names, the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and more.
Jeff Hardy turns down an offer from John Laurinaitis
Dave Meltzer of WON reports that John Laurinaitis reached out to Jeff Hardy for inducting him in the 2022 Hall of Fame Class, but The Charismatic Enigma turned down the offer. It looks like John needs to learn a thing or two from Marlon Brando of The Godfather as The Godfather made others an offer that they couldn’t refuse. (enjoy the pun)
Jeff asked for his drug test result instead, and it took six weeks to arrive. The former tag team champion was sure that he wouldn’t test positive for recreational drugs, and it looks like he may have something good to share with everyone soon. Speculation continues to rise around whether Jeff will join his brother Matt in AEW.
Triple H Health Update
Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reports that Triple H may not get any substantial task at this time due to his nagging health issues. Hunter developed NXT into the third brand, but we see him out of action for a considerable time. While he has been out due to health issues, massive changes have hit NXT 2.0, making the brand nearly unrecognizable from what he created. Not only have many stars left the brand, but it now looks more like main roster WWE. There’s no update on when or if Triple H will return and in what capacity.
Ronda Rousey’s win in the Women’s Royal Rumble match
When Ronda Rousey’s name was mentioned as a Royal Rumble participant, many immediately picked her to win the big match. The former Raw Women’s Champion returned after a three-year hiatus. She took time off to start a family and has returned with a major win.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, the original and the executed plan were always the same. WWE wanted Ronda Rousey to win the match at the Rumble, and the results were similar. Fans were happy at her return, and she performed well alongside her opponents to win an opportunity for the gold at WrestleMania.
WWE is clueless about Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 38
It looks like that, not just the WWE, but even the news outlets are clueless about the ideas for WrestleMania 38. WrestleVotes stated that the company has no plans for the new WWE champion for WrestleMania 38.
Ringside News’ Steve Carrier reports that the Mania matches have got into implementation mode. It includes Bobby Lashley’s opponent too. We cannot affirm which of these is a fact, but one thing is sure, and that’s the fact that anything can happen in the WWE.
