AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for February 9, 2022
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will broadcast live on TBS from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
There are only two announced matches for the card thus far, but there is a lot of buzz about this Wednesday as Tony Khan has announced that someone will be coming through the forbidden door, signing a contract, and then competing against Isiah Kassidy in a Face of the Revolution Ladder Match qualifier.
We will also be treated to a mandatory Inner Circle Team Meeting on Wednesday to try to patch up the cracks that have started to form in the foundation of the faction over the past few weeks.
In addition to all that MJF is scheduled to speak, and you know he is going to have a lot to say after defeating CM Punk in Chicago last week.
And in the main event, “Hangman” Adam Page will defend his AEW World TItle vs Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match.
Let’s take a closer look at the announced matches and segments and what to expect from this week’s AEW Dynamite.
Who is coming in the forbidden door?
There has been a ton of speculation over just who is going to be debuting and signing an AEW contract this week.
But with Brandi Rhodes’ name drop of Josh Alexander last week, it seemed like a strong possibility that Alexander would come over to AEW, possibly reuniting the highly successful tag team, The North, with Ethan Page.
Then Tony Khan added to the speculation with this tweet:
And with that, it seems certain that it is an ex-WWE employee.
There has been a lot of talk about the newest addition to the AEW roster being Jeff Hardy. Several AEW talents such as The Young Bucks and Isiah Kassidy have even suggested as much on their Twitter accounts.
But the fact of the matter is that Jeff Hardy still most likely has another month or so on his non-compete and it would be silly of AEW to risk a lawsuit over 30 days.
This leads us to quite honestly, the best of those three options, and that is Keith Lee.
Lee checks all the boxes, he is an ex-WWE talent that was badly misused by his former company and has all the talent in the world. He is arguably the best free agent out there and is a talent Tony Khan would be a fool not to bring in.
And on Wednesday, Keith Lee will officially be All Elite.
Isiah Kassidy vs Keith Lee in a Face of the Revolution Ladder Match Qualifier
Isiah Kassidy did well for himself in his match last Friday on Rampage when he took Sammy Guevara to the limit in a TNT Title match.
But if there was ever a time for a squash match, this is it. Keith Lee needs to end this match in under 4 minutes and keep the buzz around his AEW debut going.
This needs to be a match where Lee makes himself the favorite to win the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match at the upcoming Revolution pay-per-view.
Isiah Kassidy will bounce back, but this match needs to be all about the limitless one. Winner: Keith Lee
Inner Circle mandatory team meeting
The Inner Circle needs to disband, and the sooner the better. But it probably won’t be on Wednesday.
The team meeting will take place, words will be said, emotions will run high. And when we seem to be getting close to a resolution it will all go down the drain as Eddie Kingston makes his return on Wednesday and crashes the meeting.
And the renewed hostilities between Jericho and Kingston will continue to break the foundation of the Inner Circle as we move closer to their much-needed breakup.
Lance Archer vs Adam Page in a Texas Death Match for the AEW World Title
AEW has done everything in its power to try to make people believe that Lance Archer can walk out of Atlantic City as the AEW World Champion.
Archer decimated Page on last week’s Dynamite and Tony Khan made this match a Texas Death Match, somewhat of a specialty for Archer. The last time there was a Texas Death Match in AEW Archer defeated Jon Moxley for the IWGP U.S. Title.
But the truth of the matter is that this feud was just a way to give Page something to do before his Revolution program versus Adam Cole begins.
This match will be entertaining as both of these men are talented and know how to make a Death Match work.
But the outcome of this match is no mystery, Adam Page will retain. The real mystery is if AEW can find a way to keep Archer relevant after this feud, or will he fade back into matches on Dark and Elevation. Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page
