WWE SmackDown Results Feb 25: Lesnar-Reigns WrestleMania Contract Signing

WWE SmackDown results from Hershey, Pa. It was announced beforehand that Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, and WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar will have a contract signing ahead of their clash at WrestleMania 38. Also, the new Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn, will have a celebration following his championship victory last week, and Drew McIntyre will face Madcap Moss in an Elimination Chamber rematch.

WWE SmackDown results – February 25, 2022

A video recap is shown of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns’ journey since WWE Day 1. It was confirmed that their match at WrestleMania 38 will now be a Championship Unification Match.

We cross live to the arena in Hershey. Michael Cole is in the ring and introduces “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” Ronda Rousey. Cole starts an in-ring interview with her and asks her why she decided to return at the Royal Rumble. Ronda says after injuries and giving birth, she knew she wanted to return, and she returned and punched her ticket to WrestleMania.

Rousey talks about her mother who inspired her and how she wants to set the same example for her daughter. Cole talks up Rousey’s accolades outside of WWE. Ronda says she’s already looking forward to what’s next and wants to tap out Charlotte Flair for the first time in her career.

Cole talks about Elimination Chamber and a recap is shown of the match, where Ronda had her arm tied behind her back during the bout. SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair then makes her entrance. Charlotte says she gave Ronda a welcome back last week. Charlotte says at WrestleMania and says she’s going to submit Ronda for the first time in her career.

Charlotte says wants she’s done with her at ‘Mania, Ronda can go work on baby number two. Sonya Deville then attacks Rousey from behind. Charlotte gets involved and wraps Ronda’s right knee against the ring post. It is noted that it’s the same knee Ronda has had surgery on seven times. Ronda manages to turn the tables on Deville in the ring, but gets up and begins to sell the knee injury.

Backstage, The New Day are driving through backstage on a four-wheeler. They face Los Lotharios next.

Backstage, Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are watching the opening segment back. Pearce says that Sonya will go one-on-one with Ronda Rousey next week.

The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) vs. Los Lotharios (Angel & Humberto)

Los Lotharios once again bring out their kiss cam and kiss a member of the WWE Universe before they get into the ring. The New Day come out in the four-wheeler. Big E and Kofi dominate the opening few minutes of the match. Los Lotharios manage to work their way back into the contest as we go to a commercial. After some fast-paced back and forth action, The New Day hit the Midnight Hour for the victory in a highly-entertaining match.

Winners: The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) via pinfall

Backstage, Sheamus and Ridge Holland greet The New Day on their way back from the ring, seemingly issuing a challenge.

Backstage, Sam Roberts asks The Usos about the contract signing later tonight. The Usos say it is the contract signing is for the biggest WrestleMania match of all time. The Usos talk about The Viking Raiders saying they can smell them from a mile away. The Viking Raiders then enter and attack the champions.

Backstage, Xia Li is interviewed. Xia says she’s been waiting for this moment for her whole life, competing in her first-ever match on SmackDown. She says that she’s confident heading into her match with Natalya.

Xia Li vs. Natalya

Natalya took immediate control of the match, wearing Xia Li down. It sounded like the fans were chanting “Hershey’s chocolate!” during the match, but Pat McAfee covered it up saying that the fans were chanting “Xia Li’s got it!” In the end, Xia picks up the win with a spinning heel kick.

Winner: Xia Li via pinfall

A video recap is shown of Sami Zayn winning the Intercontinental Championship.

The new Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn, makes his way to the ring. He’s holding a Championship Celebration. Sami Zayn says that justice is finally served. He says he was the victim of a massive conspiracy.

Sami questions whether there was ever a conspiracy in the first place, and he says it is a resounding yes. Zayn says no matter what they throw at him, he can overcome it. He demands respect. Sami says he’s happy to give Shinsuke a rematch, but Zayn says Nakamura is not available after he smashed his kneecap last week.

Sami Zayn says he will face all-comers and anyone that is brave enough to step up and face him. Johnny Knoxville’s music then hits and he heads to the ring. Sami is surprised. Zayn asks him what he wants. Knoxville said the Sami crashed his film premiere, so he’s crashing his party.

Sami says they can catch up later and respectfully asks Knoxville to leave. Knoxville says he thought Sami threw out a challenge. Knoxville accepts that challenge. Sami says Knoxville doesn’t belong here. Knoxville questions Sami for not agreeing, questioning whether he has any balls. They go face-to-face and trash talk. Zayn then attacks Knoxville with a cheap shot and beats him down. The referees rush out and eventually pull him away before he delivers one last Helluva Kick.

Backstage Zayn is talking with Adam Pearce. Ricochet interrupts and says he wants to step up and face Sami for the title. Pearce makes it official for next week: Sami Zayn vs. Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship.

Sasha Banks vs. Shotzi

Sasha Banks appears for the first time since the Royal Rumble. Naomi makes her way out to join commentary for the match. Banks ultimately wins the match with the Bank Statement forcing Shotzi to tap out.

Winner: Sasha Banks via submission

Naomi gets into the ring after the match. Naomi says that we are looking at the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Backstage, Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss are interviewed. A recap is shown of Moss being planted on his head during his and Drew’s match in Jeddah. Corbin says Madcap has the strongest neck he’s ever seen. Corbin says that tonight Drew has to deal with him. Corbin says him vs. Drew is a WrestleMania calibre match and it’s taking place here tonight. Corbin says he’s going to show McIntyre who the real warrior is.

Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin

Corbin gets on the mic before the match and wants to make sure Drew wants to take his beating in Hershey. Corbin says the people in Hershey are pathetic. Corbin says Madcap Moss is as tough as nails. Corbin tells Madcap to step on the apron. Corbin wants Moss to show the people how great he really is. Corbin then suggests Moss take the match because he deserves the rematch. Corbin says it’s only Drew McIntyre and he can take him. Both men take Drew down and they begin to give him a beating on the canvas.

Winner: No contest

Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss

Moss is still selling the neck injury. Drew goes for the Alabama Slam that saw Moss land on his head in Jeddah. However, Moss manages to wriggle away with the help of Corbin. We return from a commercial with Moss in control. Nonetheless, out of nowhere, Drew hits Moss with a Claymore to pick up the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre via pinfall

Backstage, Ronda Rousey is interviewed. Rousey is asked about her match against Sonya next week. She says she’s going to show everyone what happens when authority figures step out of line.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns — with Paul Heyman and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos — head to the ring for the WrestleMania contract signing. Roman tells Hershey to acknowledge him.

Paul Heyman then speaks and says we have come to a point in history where we are faced with the single biggest WrestleMania match of all time. Heyman says Reigns will solidify his GOAT status in the Championship Unification match. Heyman leaves us on a cliffhanger as he clicks the show into a commercial break with his fingers. That was different.

We come back from the commercial break with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar making his entrance. Roman doesn’t take his eyes off him. The fans chant for Brock. Lesnar introduces himself using Heyman’s old shtick. Lesnar says he has to contain himself here. He says the only thing stopping him from kicking both Roman and Heyman’s ass tonight is himself. Lesnar says he can bet that he’s going to get paid for it. Lesnar signs.

Heyman says he’s sick of Lesnar’s disrespect. Heyman says Lesnar isn’t going to make it to WrestleMania as WWE Champion because he’s going to lose the title at Madison Square Garden next Saturday. Roman now signs the contract. He says Lesnar must be confused because the WWE Title is his title. Roman Reigns says he will smash Lesnar at WrestleMania.

He says this is his show and his ring. He says everything and everybody works for him, even the security team in the ring. The security then surrounds Lesnar, but Lesnar attacks them all and sends them out of the ring.
