WWE 2k22: Three celebrities to feature as DLC roster additions

WWE 2k22 should bring in these celebrities as DLC roster members.

WWE 2k22 is a few days away. Wrestling and video games fans are closely watching what’s to come from this iteration of WWE’s mainline wrestling game. After the debacle that was WWE 2k20 and rumored issues between WWE and 2K, there’s a lot to watch for. The roster has been revealed with wrestlers both within the WWE today and those that are no longer with the company. Machine Gun Kelly was announced as a celebrity addition to the roster via upcoming DLC, which raised the idea of what other celebrities should become DLC for WWE2k22.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny is the easy name on this list. He was one of the biggest attractions of WrestleMania 37 and delivered in a big way. His match alongside Damian Priest to defeat The Miz and Johnny Nitro was the moment that captured the most eyeballs. Many of his highlights posted on the WWE YouTube channel have more than a million views.

He didn’t stop there. As he returned as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Even though he made the mistake of facing down Brock Lesnar, he was still one of the final entrants in the biggest match of the year to date.

Bunny’s addition to the roster would make all the sense. It would be another opportunity for WWE to feature some of his music and generate another level of crossover buzz. Fans should expect Bad Bunny to be a downloadable character at some point.

Johnny Knoxville

There’s a strong possibility that Johnny Knoxville will have his WrestleMania moment this year. He and Sami Zayn are still linked in a battle that started before this year’s Royal Rumble. And now, with Zayn holding the Intercontinental Championship around his waist, it appears that Knoxville is going to face Zayn for that title at WrestleMania.

Knoxville would be a joke character by every definition of the word. Imagine wrestling against him in matches that are staged after memorable moments from the show “Jackass,” with props that can be interacted with by the players. That’s the exact type of foolishness that has happened in past wrestling games and would be welcome in the sandbox that is WWE2k22.

Cardi B

Cardi B is a home run as a DLC character for WWE 2k22. Her music was used as the promo theme for SummerSlam in 2021, and there were rumors that she was potentially involved with the show. That did not come to fruition but imagine booking Cardi B as a professional wrestler in this year’s video game. Remember that brief Twitter scuffle that Lacey Evans and Cardi B had a few years ago? All of that could be played out between the two women in the online world.

The purpose of these types of additions to the roster is to create crossover buzz and Cardi would be one of the biggest to draw attention. Like Bunny, she’s a well-known artist who continues to expand into other ventures. WWE would be lucky to partner with her for such a feature.

Downloadable characters are a major part of games like WWE 2k22. These three individuals are the exact types of features WWE should look to include to draw these celebrity names’ attention.
