Ahead of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan had a media call to promote AEW Revolution. I was able to attend and live tweet the call.

Besides the news that RJ City is creating content for the “Road to Revolution”, it was a fairly routine call discussing matches, future UK shows, and the video game. Although Khan was mum regarding his huge announcement, he did reveal another interesting tidbit.

One question that Khan has been asked many time is about Trios Titles. Are we getting them? When? We got one step closer today when Khan revealed that he’s waiting for the return of Kenny Omega.

"“We have a lot of great trios here. I’m very interested in it. I’ll be 100% honest with you, this is the must blunt answer I can give: I’m much more receptive to doing it when Kenny Omega is back. Because I think that is going to happen and when Kenny Omega is back, the Trios division is that much stronger. We could do a great tournament now and have a great Trios division, but I think he would make it that much stronger. I have so much respect for him and I think he was such a great World Champion for us. And I think we could by far, have the best Trios division anybody could put together with how strong our roster is and with how many Trios are already together and have experience working together and I would love for Kenny Omega to be a part of it.”"

Omega has been out of action since Full Gear in November 2020. It was thought that he would be back in February, however, the timetable has changed. Omega is still awaiting hernia surgery and once he heals from that, he will likely be back a few months later.

AEW already has several Trios teams including The Gunn Club and 2point0. The numerous factions they have could easily make Trios teams from within such as Dark Order, Best Friends, and SuperKliq. Omega would seemingly be a team with his Elite brethren, the Young Bucks. That could give them fresh competition away from the tag team scene.

It seems like AEW has interesting plans to keep things fresh in 2022 by adding a new division and having Omega and the Young Bucks doing something different than being in the singles and tag team scenes, respectively.

Next. Buddy Matthews will shine on the AEW roster. dark
