WWE SmackDown Results March 4: New IC Champion, Ronda Rousey vs. Sonya Deville

WWE Smackdown results live from Miami, Florida. WWE announced prior to the show that Ronda Rousey will compete for the first time ever on the blue brand as she takes on Sonya Deville. It was also advertised that Sami Zayn will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Ricochet, and The Usos will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Viking Raiders.

WWE SmackDown Results – March 4, 2022

The show starts with a shot of Paul Heyman backstage. Heyman introduces himself and says SmackDown will be blessed with the presence of Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, tonight. A backstage shot of Ronda Rousey is shown. Ronda talks about her first-ever match on SmackDown and what she will do to Sonya.

A backstage shot of Sonya Deville is then shown as she talks about Ronda. A backstage shot of The Viking Raiders is then shown as they talk about their SmackDown Tag Team Title match. The Uso’s are then shown in another backstage shot as they say they’ll show everyone why they’re the champions.

Ricochet is then shown in a backstage shot, as he talks about his Intercontinental Title match with Sami Zayn. Zayn is then shown in a backstage shot, this time in gorilla, and he tells us that Ricochet will find out why he is The Master Strategist. That was a unique opening and we’re kicking off with the Intercontinental Championship match.

Sami Zayn vs. Ricochet for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

The match started with Ricochet scoring a nearfall on the champion, as Sami kicked out at the last second. Back from the commercial, Ricochet scored another nearfall, making it three nearfalls in total in the match for the challenger at this point. Johnny Knoxville eventually came out during the match. This distracted Sami and allowed Ricochet to capitalize to capture the Intercontinental Championship.

Winner: And new WWE Intercontinental Champion, Ricochet via pinfall

A video is then shown recapping Vince McMahon’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. We then cut to a door with Mr. McMahon’s name on it.  It looks like he’s going to make an appearance next.

Backstage, Sami Zayn is walking through the backstage area and begins to trash some equipment in anger. He then asks the cameraman why he’s following Sami. Zayn is paranoid about Knoxville and challenges him for a match at WrestleMania.

Austin Theory then makes his way to the ring. Austin Theory explains that he competes on RAW and he’s the pet project of Mr. McMahon. He says that wherever McMahon goes, he goes. Theory asks McAfee why Vince was on his show. Austin says Vince set Pat up. Austin says Pat probably thinks Vince McMahon likes him, but he does everything for a reason.

He says deep down he just wants Pat McAfee to shut up. Austin questions what McAfee will do if his mouth was wired shut. Austin goes to the announce table where McAfee is sitting. Austin Theory then reveals himself to be Pat McAfee’s opponent at WrestleMania. Austin then slaps him and walks off. Pat challenges him to come back down, but Austin takes a selfie on the entrance ramp. Pat McAfee gets angry with Michael Cole about the incident.

Naomi w/ Sasha Banks vs. Carmella w/ Queen Zelina

Carmella’s mask is put on at ringside just after the bell rings for the match to begin. During the match, Sasha Banks took out Queen Zelina. Naomi ultimately picked up the win with the Split Legged Moonsault, as Natalya is shown watching on from backstage.

Winner: Naomi via pinfall

Backstage, there is a poker game taking place with Happy Corbin, Madcap Moss and friends. Corbin is facing Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania. Corbin lists his achievements at WrestleMania. Corbin says he’s on the hottest winning streak of his career. Madcap Moss then tells a joke about the Loch Ness Monster and Drew pooping in his bathtub. They all sit around and watch Drew McIntyre’s match up next.

Drew McIntyre vs. Jinder Mahal w/ Shanky

Drew made easy work of The Maharaja to pick up the victory using The Claymore finisher, after displaying some incredible strength.

Winner: Drew McIntyre via pinfall

In the ring, Drew is interviewed. Drew says he doesn’t care what Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin think. Drew says that they have no respect in the SmackDown locker room. Drew then asks the audience the raise their hand if they can’t stand Happy Corbin. Drew says all good things must come to an end and he’s going to end Corbin’s WrestleMania undefeated streak and take him out.

Backstage, Madcap Moss then tries to tell a joke about Drew McIntyre backing out of his WrestleMania match. Nobody laughs as Happy Corbin looks concerned.

A video recap is shown of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns’ Winner Take All, Championship Unification match contract signing for WrestleMania.

Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs make their entrance but they are ambushed by the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos, on the entrance ramp. Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, then makes his entrance with Paul Heyman and they head to the ring. The fans chant for Roman Reigns.

He then asks Miami to acknowledge him. Roman Reigns says tomorrow night, he and Brock Lesnar defend their titles at Madison Square Garden. Roman says he will smash whoever steps up. Roman says Brock’s defence is where it gets interesting as not everybody wants to see The Beast Incarnate with the title.

Roman Reigns says he wants Brock Lesnar to make it to WrestleMania and hand-deliver the WWE Championship to The Tribal Chief. Heyman says it’s not a prediction, it’s a spoiler. Roman Reigns questions whether they should give everyone a spoiler tonight. Roman calls himself Babe Ruth and says he calls his shot and delivers every time.

Roman calls his shot and says at WrestleMania he’s going to smash and pin Brock Lesnar. Roman says Brock will have no choice but to acknowledge him. Roman says at WrestleMania Brock Lesnar will acknowledge him.

The Usos vs. The Viking Raiders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Ivar thought he had the match won early after delivering a big Splash from the top turnbuckle, however, he only scored a two count with the pin attempt. After some back and forth action, The Uso’s retained the gold using the 1D finisher.

Winner: And still SmackDown Tag Team Champion, Jimmy & Jey Uso via pinfall

A video is shown from earlier tonight of Big E and Kofi Kingston driving backstage on an ATV. They then make their way to the ring. Big E faces Sheamus next.

Big E w/ Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus w/ Ridge Holland

The match was about to begin when Kofi was having fun on the ATV and Ridge Holland smashed him with a steel chair. Ridge then began to hit the ATV with the chair. Sheamus and Ridge then drive the ATV to the backstage area.

Winner: No contest

A video is shown after the commercial break of Sheamus and Ridge Holland vandalizing the ATV in the parking lot.

Backstage, Johnny Knoxville is interviewed. Knoxville calls Sami a sad and strange little man. Knoxville says that he will see Sami Zayn at WrestleMania.

Backstage, Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss are now playing darts. McIntyre then appears and sends his sword into the dartboard. Corbin and Moss immediately depart.

A video recap is shown of Ronda Rousey’s segment from last week when she was attacked by Sonya Deville and SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair.

It is announced that Kofi & Big E will face Sheamus & Ridge Holland, plus Queen Zelina vs. Sasha Banks will take place next week.

Ronda Rousey vs. Sonya Deville

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair makes her way out just as the match was about to begin. Ronda Rousey slaps Sonya to get the match underway. Charlotte immediately causes a distraction to allow Sonya to gain the advantage. Ronda eventually fires back, hits Piper’s Pit before making Sonya tap out to the Ronda Armbar.

Winner: Ronda Rousey via submission

After the match, Ronda wants Charlotte Flair to get into the ring. Charlotte gets in there, but Rousey takes her down and locks her in an Ankle Lock. Flair begins to tap out as Ronda stands tall at the end of the show.
