Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) were the trio of men known as ‘The Shield’. Come November, a decade will have passed since the group formed at WWE Survivor Series. You can make an argument for any of the gentlemen being the top gun in the group. Jon Moxley to me was the top star of The Shield.

The facts are concrete. All three men are WWE grand slam champions; Jon Moxley has won a single World championship. Seth Rollins has won 4 and Roman Reigns will have headlined Wrestlemania 6 times come April and has held a WWE World championship six times.

Based on those statements, you’re likely choosing Roman Reigns as the star of the group? It’s easy to choose someone like Reigns who has been force-fed down fan’s throats for years as the top guy.  He finally turned heel in the Summer of 2020 and began to shine as the face of the WWE.

Seth Rollins has had amazing moments himself. Having been a former Ring Of Honor World champion with amazing talent in the ring. His promos have improved over the years. yet his Achilles heel has been his work as a top babyface. Rollins can go no question, yet the fans have turned his back on him more often than not for having a stale character.

I give it to you, Jon Moxley. From the very beginning, Moxley was the voice and backbone of The Shield. His unorthodox style caught on with the crowd. While Reigns has the look and Rollins has the ring generalship, Moxley always had the “IT” factor.

His microphone ability is at an elite level. The fans have already gravitated to his renegade, anti-authoritative character to go along with the loose cannon/jackal attitude held within him. He always connects with the audience with raw emotion and conviction.

Yes, the other men have more accolades. Jon Moxley has charisma and a way with words that very few in the wrestling world possess. Oh, but there’s more. Moxley was the 2nd AEW World champion, the longest-reigning IWGP United States champion in history, and the current GCW World champion. His style resonates with a wide array of audiences. Something that his former stablemates lack in my opinion.

Everywhere Jon Moxley has gone, he has been at or near the top of the card, and rightfully so. The guy is absolute gold in any environment you throw him in. His character is someone that every fan Worldwide can get behind. He has you in the palm of his hand each and every night he performs in the wrestling ring. For that last sentence alone and with conviction, I’ll proclaim Jon Moxley as the biggest star of The Shield.
