AEW Rampage: Yuta and Moxley have bloody fight

AEW Rampage comes to us from Boston.

Trent Beretta vs. Bryan Danielson w/ William Regal

Danielson gets Beretta to the mat quickly, but Beretta returns the favor. Danielson kicked Beretta in the spine. Danielson go wrist control and transitioned into a side headlock. Beretta was able to return Danielson’s kick to the spine with one of his own. The pair come to a stalemate and start a knuckle lock, but Danielson kicks Beretta.

They exchange strikes and Danielson puts him in a swinging front chancery. Beretta reverses with a Northern Lights Suplex. Danielson got him in the corner and kicked him. The two begin to tumble out of the ring, but only Danielson fell. Beretta went for a dive, but Danielson kicked him midair. Danielson went for the tope suicida, but was caught. Danielson slammed Beretta into the mat and then threw him into the steps.

During picture-in-picture, both were back in the ring, but Danielson maintained control. After the break, Danielson uppercut his opponent. Danielson hit a front face suplex. Danielson went up top, but Beretta suplerplexed him. They exchanged chops and Beretta hit a release German suplex. Beretta followed with a back elbow. Danielson put Beretta into a Dragon sleeper, but Beretta got to the ropes.

Danielson told Beretta to get up and hit his knees in Beretta’s face. Beretta went for a Storm Zero, but it’s reversed. Danielson tossed into the turnbuckle. Beretta hit a swinging DDT. Beretta put Danielson on the top rope, but they get reversed. They both landed hard on the mat and Beretta nearly pinned him. More strikes are exchanged.

Beretta with a Half and Half and a lariat. Beretta followed with strikes. Danielson running knee strike and a Gotch style pile driver. Danielson followed up by stomping on his face and then wrenched his neck to get a submission.

Danielson wins via submission

Danhausen hasn’t figured out HOOK.

Dan Lambert continued to say lazy insults and “All Ego” Ethan Page piled on.

Swerve Strickland vs. QT Marshall w/Nick Comoroto

The match began in a lockup, but Marshall took Swerve down with a shoulder tackle. Swerve took down Marshall with a hip toss and put him down a few more times. Swerve landed on his feet on the outside.

During picture-in-picture, Swerve kept control most of the time. Marshall did take him down with a clothesline. He got a few punches in. Swerve punched Marshall in the gut, but got taken down with a shoulder tackle.

After the break, Swerve took him down with an elbow. Marshall went for a Diamond Cutter, but Swerve pushed him off. Swerve drop-kick and followed with a flatliner. He put Marshall down with a heel kick to the back of the head.

After the match, Ricky Starks challenged Swerve and Keith Lee to a tag match with Powerhouse Hobbs on Dynamite. These four men have been building to this showdown.

Red Velvet vs. Willow Nightingale

This is a qualifying match for the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Neither woman got an entrance.

Nightingale quickly took Red Velvet down. They exchanged wrist locks. Nightingale with a flying mare. Red Velvet responded with an arm drag. Nightingale hit Red Velvet with a shoulder block twice. Nightingale hit a brainbuster on her opponent.

In the corner, Red Velvet hit repeated strikes to the gut and then kicked Nightingale when she dropped down. Nightingale hit a suplex, followed by a senton. Nightingale went for a moonsault, but Red Velvet rolled in.

Red Velvet with a swinging neckbreaker and double knees to the back on the head. Red Velvet went for Just Desserts, but Nightingale kicked out. She followed with a spine buster. They exchanged strikes and chops. Nightingale pounced Red Velvet and followed with a cannonball. Nightingale nearly got the pin.

Nightingale had her opponent in a vertical suplex, but she reversed it. Red Velvet followed with a  backstabber and then a corkscrew kick to advance to the tournament.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Jon Moxley

This is not a match under Pure rules. Yuta dove on Moxley before he got in the ring. He chased Mox into the crowd and they exchanged chops. Yuta hit Moxley repeatedly in the head. Mox kicked him in the gut and tried to take him to the ring. Yuta started fighting back before they got there.

In the ring, Mox hit a suplex to officially begin the match. He followed with a vertical suplex.  In the corner, Mox hit multiple chops. Lateral press by Mox. Mox locked Yuta’s hand behind him and hit him and covered his nose and mouth with his hand. Yuta got up and went for the Manhattan drop. Yuta went up and over the apron. On the outside, Mox drove him face-first into the steps.

In picture-in-picture, Mox took a breather. A bloodied Yuta got back in the ring and Mox dug his fingers into Yuta’s face. They exchanged chops in the corner. Mox hit a suplex and Yuta rolled out of the ring. Moxley joined him and punched him in the forehead. Yuta was prepared for Mox and drove him into the steps. In the ring, Yuta was standing on the turnbuckle when Mox punched him and raked his back. Mox had Yuta in a submission hold. Yuta fought out, but Moxley put him on his back and into a Boston crab.

After the break, Moxley pushed Yuta in the face. Yuta chopped the former champion. Moxley nailed a knee lift, but Yuta caught himself on the rope. Yuta sent Moxley to the outside. Yuta dove on Mox and sent them both through a table. Mox got back into the ring first to catch his breath. Yuta climbed in the ring and charged at Moxley. Moxley put Yuta in a backslide. Yuta followed up with two German suplexes. He went for a third one, but Mox was ready with a back elbow and a rolling elbow strike. Yuta blocked a King Kong lariat. Yuta had wrist control and kicked his head in.

Yuta went for a flying splash, but Mox just got out. Yuta put Moxley in a crossface. Mox reversed and followed with a King Kong lariat. Mox trash-talked Yuta as he lay on the mat, but Yuta got up. They exchanged chops and Moxley bit his wound. On the turnbuckle, Yuta raked Mox’s back. Mox hit the Paradigm Shift but Yuta kicked out. Mox was incensed with Paul Turner.

Moxley then went for a bulldog choke. Yuta furiously waves no when Turner asked if he was done. While Yuta’s face was barely off the mat, Mox hit him with driving knee strikes. Yuta asked for more and rolled up Mox. Yuta then locked him in a bulldog choke and followed with a rear naked choke. Mox rolled through and hit him with elbows. Moxley hit Yuta with a Regal knee into Paradigm Shift, but Yuta rolled out. Mox put him in rear naked choke to put the ROH Pure Champion to sleep.

Regal and Danielson come to the ring. Yuta held his arms open and asked for Regal to hit him. Yuta got to his feet with his fist cocked, but Regal shook his hand. Moxley said something to Yuta, but it was hard to hear over the music.
