All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling have worked well together in the past. With names like KENTA and Jon Moxley jumping between both organizations, fans have longed for a super card between the two organizations. As rumors grow about a show’s potential in late June in Chicago, now would be the perfect time for the two companies to come together for one night.

AEW and NJPW continue to draw themselves closer together. A few weeks ago, AEW content became available on NJPW World, the latter’s streaming service. In the past, wrestlers from the two companies worked together both within AEW and in other promotions. Samoa Joe and Minoru Suzuki just competed for the Ring of Honor TV title on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. The foundation for the two companies to work together is there and pulling this off for a showcase event this year would be massive.

The COVID-19 global pandemic severely hit NJPW. The company struggled with frequent lockdowns and the inability to consistently bring in foreign talent, which impacted overall interest in the brand. Things have started to improve in recent months, and this potential step would help push that recovery over the top.

AEW also stands to gain if this partnership turns toward hosting a show. It would be another victory for AEW as they continue to solidify themselves as the top brand for fans looking for professional wrestling. Not just the best matches available within their own walls but reaching out to other companies at the same time. Collaboration continues to have value in an industry such as professional wrestling, so as the WWE continues to isolate itself, AEW going in the opposite direction is showing benefits in the fans’ perception.

Again, nothing has been officially announced, but the simple implications of an AEW versus New Japan card will get the dream match connoisseurs buzzing. That is valuable in its own right and Tony Khan has shown a propensity in getting these major moments to come to fruition.
