The match that was supposed to happen at WrestleMania Backlash is finally happening on Friday Night Smackdown. This Friday night, it will be the Raw tag team champions RK-Bro vs the Smackdown tag team champions the Usos to unify both WWE tag team championships.

This match was supposed to happen at WrestleMania Backlash until Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre got involved and Paul Heyman convinced Adam Pierce to change the unification tag team title match to a six-man tag team match.

Rumors are that WWE has no plans to unify both titles. So, the match will most likely end with a disqualification. But there is also a good chance that both titles do get unified. And if both RK-Bro or the Usos unify the tag team titles, that will be the right move.

Why should WWE unify the Raw and Smackdown tag team championships?

The tag team division in WWE is weak. One of the reasons the tag team division isn’t great is because there aren’t a lot of teams in WWE. Another reason why is because both shows have a separate tag team division.

If both Raw and Smackdown tag team championships are unified, WWE will also have one tag team division since whoever wins the match, can appear and defend their titles on both shows and premium live events.

Right now, there are about 17 teams on the main roster. 17 teams are not enough to have two tag team divisions. Merging the Raw and Smackdown tag team division will be beneficial because it will make the division stronger.

And now that teams could be fighting for one tag team championship soon, that will make the titles important. With one title, the champions will have to be on Raw and Smackdown to defend their championships. Meanwhile, the rest of the teams have to step up since there’s one title and it will be much harder for them to get a rematch.

The RK-Bro vs the Usos match will most likely end with a DQ finish. But let’s just WWE give us a winner and unify the tag team titles, that will make the tag team division stronger. They will have one tag team division on the main roster. Two divisions will not make the tag team scene better.
