AEW Rampage: Double or Nothing card continues to fill out
AEW Rampage aired early again on Friday night.
The opening match saw House of Black take on Fuego Del Sol and Dark Order’s Evil Uno and 10. During the match, Buddy Matthews held up the Cero Miedo hand symbol, an obvious signal to Penta Oscuro. After Matthews and Company picked up the win, Death Triangle descended on the stage.
Oscuro has frequently come out with a headstone, but this time it was shrouded in a black cover. Oscuro peeled it back to reveal the Double or Nothing logo embedded on the tombstone with House of Black’s name on a plaque above that. Death Triangle vs. House of Black Trios match is official.
In a backstage segment with the Undisputed Elite, the Young Bucks declared once again that The Hardys were the best tag team of the 2000s, while they were the best tag team of the 2010s. Meanwhile, reDRagon just stood there like chumps. The Hardys vs. Young Bucks “modern day dream match” has been building since before Jeff Hardy’s arrival thanks to the angle on Being the Elite. Elite vs. Delete will finally take place live on pay-per-view.
The women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament qualifier match saw Kris Statlander sneak a win over Red Velvet. Although Statlander dominated her opponent, they exchanged roll-ups in the end. Jade Cargill and Kiera Hogan descended on Statlander after the match. Ruby Soho came from the announce table to save her opponent in the next round of the tournament. Anna Jay came to even things up and took “Smart” Mark Sterling’s crutch to fend off Cargill and The Baddies.
During a backstage segment, Cargill addressed Jay’s actions. She challenged The Queenslayer to a match at Double or Nothing for her TNT Championship. This will be the second time Jay has wrestled Cargill for her title.
While it was revealed on Twitter, commentary confirmed that “Anarchy in the Arena” will also take place at Double or Nothing. On Dynamite, Moxley said he wanted to face Jericho Appreciation Society in an arena full of fans, not at Stadium Stampede. He joked that it could be called “Anarchy in the Arena” and thus that’s where the name came from. Moxley and Danielson will join Mox’s bestie, Eddie Kingston, and Kingston’s other besties, Santana and Ortiz, to take on the sports entertainers.
As of now, the only match announced for The Buy In is HOOKhausen vs. Tony Nese and Sterling. After this coming Wednesday’s Dynamite, we’ll know the final matches for the Owen Hart Cup tournament.
Double or Nothing is live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 29. The Buy In starts at 7 PM ET on YouTube and Bleacher/Report. The main show starts at 8 PM ET and will be available on all major cable providers, Bleacher/Report, and FITETV (internationally).
