All Elite Wrestling is gearing up for its Forbidden Door pay-per-view with New Japan pro wrestling on June 26. The show will be filled with dream matches that fans have been waiting to see for yours, but could Tony Khan throws in a few more surprises to round out the card. AEW has had some new signings recently that have brought the audience a lot of excitement. AEW has signed many new wrestlers, but there will always be fans who want to see wrestlers who have been sidelined with injuries or haven’t been given a chance to show their full potential. In this article, I will be discussing the five wrestlers who could return to Forbidden Door.

Brian Cage

Former FTW Champion Brian Cage has been missing in AEW since he lost a street fight match against former Team Taz member Ricky Starks last year. On April 1, 2022, Cage appeared at Supercard of Honor XV, an event promoted by AEW’s newly bought promotion Ring of Honor. At the event, Cage was revealed as the new client of Tully Blanchard and defeated Ninja Mack.

It would be a wise idea of Tony to reintroduce Brian Cage to the AEW audience because when he first debuted, he was treated as a huge deal when he won the Casino ladder match on his debut and challenged then-world champion, Jon Moxley. Brian Cage should be built as one of the top heels of the relaunched ROH brand, and that build should start at Forbidden door.

KENTA

With New Japan Pro Wrestling and AEW willing to work together for the Forbidden door event, many fans wonder if we will finally get the dream match between Kenta and CM Punk. CM Punk recently defeated Adam Page for the AEW World championship, which leaves him now looking for the next challenge. Since returning to the world of professional wrestling, CM Punk has been on a hunt to prove that he can still go in the ring, and he has proved that.

Both CM Punk and KENTA have the same finishing move for the unaware people, which is the go-to sleep. Kenta and CM Punk have never crossed paths despite being in the business for many years. CM Punk is on his way to having the summer of Punk three, which will surely be very entertaining for wrestling fans. AEW should book KENTA and CM Punk to confront each other so that the fans can see who is the true king of the go-to-sleep finisher.

Miro

Former TNT champion Miro has been absent from AEW television for a while now, and his presence has been missed on the weekly shows. Miro has the potential to be one of the best wrestlers in the world because of how believable the Redeemer gimmick was. Most wrestling fans thought he would be the one to step up next and challenge Adam Page, but then AEW signed huge names such as Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, and Adam Cole.

AEW needs to remember that they have wrestlers on their roster that fans still want to see every week in the ring. Miro needs to return as soon as possible to continue his journey to the AEW world championship.

Kip Sabian

As an AEW original, Kip Sabian is one of the wrestlers who are excellent in the ring but has never been able to move up the card because of the storylines he’s booked in. In 2020 Kip Sabian was paired with Penelope Ford, which helped him get television time, but it didn’t make fans see him as a severe threat. Miro attacking Sabian on the April 28, 2021 edition of Dynamite was done to end the friendship storyline between the two.

Kip Sabian was written off to undergo shoulder surgery and hasn’t been brought back to tv yet. When Kip Sabian returns, he needs to be treated like the star he can be. A must continue to use established stars and return to building up their homegrown talent so that the future of AEW is bright.

Kenny Omega

Former World champion Kenny Omega has been out of action since losing the AEW world championship to Hangman Page at Full Gear 2021. Kenny Omega was the wrestler of the year because he carried the promotion for over a year as the belt collector and won numerous awards for it. Kenny Omega deserved to rest his injuries because of how hard he worked the last couple of years. Omega has spoken about his health in various interviews and has said his body is pretty banged up. In the void left behind by Omega, The Elite witnessed a power change from Kenny to Adam Cole, which the Young Bucks weren’t on board with at first.

When Kenny Omega returns, it will be the most talked-about story in professional wrestling. With AEW and New Japan presenting Forbidden door, this would be a massive chance for Kenny to have a face-off with a former NJPW enemy or new AEW enemy.
