WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 Predictions: Bray Wyatt Will Haunt Seth Rollins
By Mark Justice
WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is this Sunday. Although there are plenty of contrived storylines that have been built for this event, there are some potential show-stealing matches on this card that could be thrilling to watch. The following will provide full, updated match card predictions for the official match card based on the current feuds in WWE. It is quite peculiar that all of the matches on the card this year are solely feuds from Raw. Maybe SmackDown does not exist anymore.
The official match card has six matches: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins inside HIAC, Bianca Belair (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Asuka for the Raw Women’s Title, Bobby Lashley vs. Omos & MVP in a Handicap Match, Ezekiel vs. Kevin Owens in a Grudge Match, Austin Theory (c) vs. Mustafa Ali for the U.S. Title, and Bullet Club vs. Judgment Day in a faction war. It is foreseeable that either Usos (c) vs. Riddle and Nakamura or Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez gets added to the card.
Without further ado, It’s now time to preview and predict one of the most hardcore PPVs on WWE’s calendar: WWE Hell in a Cell 2022.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is scheduled to take place on June 5, 2022, live on WWE Network via Peacock. Here are the full, updated match card predictions.
Bullet Club vs. Judgment Day [Faction War]
At WWE HIAC 2022, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan will defeat Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley. It can be argued that Edge, Priest, and Ripley should win to solidify their faction, but Styles has already lost twice to Edge in this feud. Henceforth, he needs to win here to keep the feud competitive. As for Balor, he should not betray Styles because he and Styles have the potential to be a compelling tag team in the Raw Tag Division due to their history in the Bullet Club and a victory here would set them up for a tag title opportunity against the Usos at SummerSlam.
Prediction: Bullet Club
Austin Theory (c) vs. Mustafa Ali [United States Championship]
Austin Theory will retain the United States Championship against Mustafa Ali in Ali’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The WWE loves to book the hometown heroes to lose and would give off some massive heel heat for a rising star in Theory. Since Theory recently won the belt, he will likely walk into SummerSlam as the U.S. Champion and defend his title against someone like Ezekiel (more on him below) whilst Mustafa Ali fades away into the shadow realm alongside the rest of the glorified mid carders who are barely being utilized to their fullest potential on Raw.
Prediction: Austin Theory
Ezekiel vs. Kevin Owens [Grudge Match]
Kevin Owens will nefariously defeat Ezekiel in their first PPV bout with ringside assistance from Alpha Academy. Although it makes sense for Ezekiel to win here and solidify his new gimmick, Owens is someone who still needs to be taken seriously as a main event player on Raw. He has not won on PPV in quite a long time and he especially needs to redeem himself from his loss at WrestleMania 38. Ezekiel will likely win the trilogy on the road to SummerSlam, but Owens needs the win here more for the reasons stated above as he is the true backbone of this storyline.
Prediction: Kevin Owens
Bobby Lashley vs. Omos & MVP [Handicap Match]
Omos and MVP will defeat Bobby Lashley in this awkward handicap match to tie up the feud at 2-2. Bobby Lashley is considered to be the top babyface on Raw, so he should win this feud against Omos in order to regain his momentum from losing the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in the Elimination Chamber and get back in the title picture with a top heel in Roman Reigns. However, Lashley did state recently that he enjoys working Omos in a veteran role, so that gives off the idea that he may be putting him over at this “premium live event.”
Prediction: Omos & MVP
Bianca Belair (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Asuka [Raw Women’s Championship]
Bianca Belair is scheduled to defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch and Asuka in a triple threat match. That number one contender’s match for this bout was originally scheduled to be a six-pack challenge, in which Naomi was supposed to win, but Sasha Banks and Naomi justifiably walked out on WWE before the match even took place. Since this triple threat match is the Plan B, it is blatantly obvious that Belair will retain the Raw Women’s Title by pinning Lynch as a clever booking methodology to save Asuka for a future one on one title bout at MITB.
Prediction: Bianca Belair
Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins [Hell in a Cell Match]
Cody Rhodes is scheduled to battle Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell in what should be the end to their trilogy. He will defeat Seth Rollins inside a structure that Rollins knows very well. Hopefully, this match won’t end in a disqualification like it did in 2019 unless Bray Wyatt, who has been teasing a return to the squared circle, returns to haunt Seth Rollins and cost him the victory.
Irregardless of the teased interference, Rhodes cannot lose on his road to winning the MITB Briefcase and defeating a former MITB Winner three times before WWE MITB 2022 in July is a neat foreshadowing for Rhodes. Rhodes would be the perfect choice for either a SummerSlam or Mania match against Roman Reigns, especially since he has been poised as the top guy on Raw.
However, since Reigns has two belts the MITB contract would only be allowed a cash in on one of those belts. That’s a technicality that could be played upon here by WWE because Rhodes can quote feasibly cash in on a vulnerable Tribal Chief and win the WWE Title whilst Reigns keeps the Universal Title that he made eminently prestigious.
Unfortunately, that would kill the dreams of potentially merging the divisions. Nonetheless, this HIAC match between Rhodes and Rollins will have plenty of interesting implications on the road to SummerSlam and should be a fun but bumpy ride.
