WWE SmackDown Predictions: Gunther Will Emphatically Bury Ricochet
By Mark Justice
WWE SmackDown is on the road to WWE Money In The Bank 2022. On this week’s episode, there is one scheduled match: Ricochet (c) vs. Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. Natalya became the official number one contender for Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Title by winning a six-pack challenge last week against Raquel Rodriguez, Xia Li, Shotzi, Aliyah, and Shayna Baszler. Meanwhile, Street Profits became the official number one contenders for Usos’ Undisputed Tag Team Titles by winning a championship contenders match against them on Raw via count-out.
When it comes to Undisputed World Champion Roman Reigns, Riddle seems to be in the running for the belt after declaring a challenge to him on Raw this week, but it has been reported that Roman Reigns is no longer scheduled for WWE MITB 2022.
In terms of the MITB Ladder Matches, it is expected that MITB qualifying matches will come into play for the superstars who are not in the aforementioned title matches. However, there were no MITB Qualifying matches on Raw this week, so there is a strong possibility the same can be said for SmackDown this week.
With that being addressed, it’s now time to preview and predict the scheduled matches and segments that will actually occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on June 10, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.
Ricochet (c) vs. Gunther [Intercontinental Championship]
On this week’s WWE SmackDown, Gunther will dethrone Ricochet to become the new Intercontinental Champion because Gunther has been on a dominant path towards stardom that should not be stopped whilst Ricochet’s title reign has, unfortunately, run its course. In fact, Ricochet’s title reign never actually picked up steam because it has unjustifiably not been featured on PPV and barely had any meaningful title reigns.
It would not be surprising to see Gunther emphatically bury the second-ranking babyface on SmackDown to the point that Ricochet gets no offense in what is foreseeably a one-sided beatdown. Gunther will then move on to defend the title against a rising babyface star in Madcap Moss, who has all the momentum he needs for a title shot after defeating Happy Corbin twice in the past few months.
Prediction: Gunther
