WWE reportedly releases Sasha Banks, first reported by Wrestling Inc
Nearly one month to the day that Sasha Banks walked out of WWE, she has reportedly been released. Last month, Banks and her tag team partner, Naomi, walked out before Monday Night RAW.
According to Wrestle Inc.’s Raj Giri, Banks was released. It was unclear if this was at her request or “on WWE’s end.”
As of this writing, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp has not been able to confirm, but said “Raj has good sources.”
Immediately after news broke about the women walking out, WWE tried painting the women as “unprofessional”. Corey Graves said those words on air when telling the fans that they walked out after the show started. WWE put out a statement about the situation, which is very rare. Their merch was pulled from WWEShop’s website.
The following day, E! News put out a hit piece making the women look bad and even went so far as to bring up Banks previously taking a mental health break for several months. On Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole said that the women disappointed millions of fans. He then said they were suspended indefinitely without pay. The women were also stripped of the tag team titles they left on WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’s desk.
This was no doubt all on Vince McMahon’s orders. Cogs in the machine don’t speak up and get away with it. Just ask CM Punk.
Speaking of McMahon, the news comes just hours after the explosive report from The Wall Street Journal that WWE’s CEO was under investigation for a $3 million hush money payment . It also indicates Laurinaitis.
Banks has seemed destined for a permanent jump to Hollywood after appearing on Disney+’s The Mandalorian. She was also on Kevin Hart’s “Cold as Balls”. “The Boss” has also been seen in NASCAR.
It is unknown what Naomi’s current status is and if she will also be released.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to Daily DDT for the latest.
