WWE: Sami Zayn Desperately Needs The MITB Briefcase The Most
By Mark Justice
WWE MITB 2022 is in two weeks, and the WWE even moved this “premium live event” into a smaller Las Vegas Venue to assure that their tickets sell out. Furthermore, the WWE is still undecided on their top plans for this “premium live event” even though WWE MITB 2022 is supposed to be one of the biggest events on the WWE calendar. The following will make a case for why Sami Zayn desperately needs to win MITB this year.
WWE MITB 2022 is scheduled to take place on July 2, 2022, live on WWE Network via Peacock. Here is why Sami Zayn needs to win MITB this year.
On WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a MITB qualification match. Zayn has made an indelible mark in the main event scene on SmackDown this past year, especially during his run as an honorable member of The Bloodline. He was also a key part of the hilarious segments with Brock Lesnar during his Mania program with Roman Reigns. Since Zayn is relevant in almost all moving parts of the show, an opportunity should be in store for him at some point.
Although the MITB Ladder Match should be used to establish a new star, the WWE has a proclivity of remaining with the status quo. Henceforth, it is more likely that Seth Rollins will win the MITB Ladder Match because he will use MITB to spite Cody Rhodes and cash in on Roman Reigns. Sami Zayn has not been built well enough to dethrone Reigns, so it would not immediately make sense to book her as MITB winner.
However, the whole point of the MITB Briefcase is to rebuild a rising star who would not earn a title match in another way. Sami Zayn is the ideal star to rebuild on her road to stardom. He is the master strategist who can ask the Usos to help him win the MITB Ladder Match. The Usos would have interest in helping him because Zayn can merely promise them that he will use MITB to protect Reigns and never cash in on Reigns.
The idea behind Zayn trying to get close with The Bloodline all these months and being Mr. MITB for Roman’s title would be genius booking for his inevitable betrayal of the faction. In fact, he can even cash in successfully without even pinning Reigns. During the scheduled Last Man Standing Match between Reigns and Lesnar at SummerSlam, Zayn can outsmart and double-cross Reigns by cashing in when both men are down, waiting for the referee to count to 10, and win both titles.
