WWE can’t fumble this opportunity to give fans another star to support on the roster.

Liv Morgan is finally a WWE champion. She picked up the title at Money in the Bank, cashing in on Ronda Rousey after her successful title defense against Natalya. The moment has come. The title is around her waist and she’s on an exclusive list. What comes next is important as WWE must take the steps to build Morgan into a credible champion that can be the focal point of the women’s division.

The main roster is in dire need of personalities that will get wrestling fans to tune in. That situation is even more pressing in the women’s division, which is facing a dearth of top names. Sasha Banks and Naomi are gone. Rousey struggled to get over with fans. The latest iteration of Lacey Evans isn’t working once again. Rhea Ripley is out of action. And WWE refuses to lean on the full strength of the roster consistently. Morgan is one person that has found a way to garner long-term fan support, even though she wasn’t booked as a top-level competitor. Well, that time has changed and the momentum must continue.

Remember when Nikki ASH won the Women’s Money in the Bank in 2021? It was a moment where WWE was seemingly recognizing a beloved member of the roster, one that both fans and colleagues supported. The next night, she cashed in on Charlotte Flair and became champion. But right after that, she was booked like a joke, losing match after match, and giving the belt back to Flair a few short weeks later. Doing that Morgan would be a massive mistake and yet another dagger in the idea that WWE will find a way to improve its booking.

Now is the time for Morgan to shine leading into and after SummerSlam

Morgan is a competitor that has continued to improve. Look back at the woman that debuted on the main roster back in 2017 as a part of The Riott Squad and the individual that steps into the ring today. Not only does she improve as a performer, but she’s evolved to the point where she develops original offense to help her stand out among the rest of the roster. Bringing something new to the ring every week or month is an important attribute that few others have displayed during the same amount of time.

The right step would be to allow Morgan to continue picking up wins heading into SummerSlam. Giving her brief feuds against the likes of Shotzi Blackheart or Aliyah leading into the pillar summer showcase goes a long way to creating a new star on the roster. When SummerSlam comes around, having Morgan pick up a clean victory over the likes of Flair, Rousey, or Raquel Rodriguez would be the boost that she and the women’s division needs.

Liv Morgan’s moment has come. She is the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. The praises were showered, and social media support was sent her way. Now, WWE must show they are going to take the steps necessary to build another champion because striking out now would cause more distrust and disinterest from fans watching at home and in attendance.
