WWE SummerSlam 2022 is almost one week away, and the WWE has already made eight matches official for this “premium live event.” Most of these matches are either rematches from WrestleMania 38 or rematches from MITB earlier this month. If they aren’t rematches, they are likely celebrity matches. Since there were ten matches on last year’s SummerSlam, there will likely be two more matches added to this year’s card. The following will provide five epic returns that will likely happen for the biggest event of the summer: WWE SummerSlam 2022.

WWE SummerSlam 2022 is scheduled to take place on July 30, 2022, live on Peacock. Here are five epic returns that will likely happen.

5.) Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair will return at SummerSlam to interfere in the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey. The last time WWE fans saw Charlotte Flair on television was when she lost the SmackDown Women’s Title to Rousey in an “I Quit” Match at WrestleMania Backlash. Henceforth, it would make a ton of sense for her to attack Rousey in this title match at SummerSlam as revenge for taking her title.

Liv Morgan will still retain due to the champion’s advantage because Charlotte’s interference would cause a DQ finish. However, as a babyface, Morgan will understandably be angry about her first PPV title defense ending inconclusively. This will be the build to a triple threat title match at Clash at the Castle, where either Morgan retains to prove her doubters wrong, Rousey wins to build up her rumored title match against Becky at Mania 39, or Charlotte stat pads her reigns once again.

4.) Edge

Edge will return at SummerSlam to get his revenge on Judgment Day. The last time the WWE fans saw Edge was when Balor and Priest betrayed Edge and kicked him out of the faction. It is expected that Edge got written off television to sell the attacks and will return as a babyface to vanquish this evil faction, as evidenced by his weekly eerie vignettes. He will likely team up with Mysterios to take them down since Mysterios have battled Judgment Day for the past month.

3.) Rhea Ripley

Speaking of Judgment Day, Rhea Ripley will return at SummerSlam to attack Bianca Belair after she retains the title against Becky Lynch. The last time the WWE fans saw Ripley was when she became the number one contender for the Raw Women’s Title. However, she had an unforeseen brain injury that took her out of action and hindered her from capitalizing on her title opportunity at MITB 2022. Ripley can run it back with Belair so that they can finally have their title match.

2.) Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt will return at SummerSlam to attack Roman Reigns after he retains the title against Brock Lesnar. The last time the WWE fans saw Wyatt was when he lost to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 37. However, he will attack Reigns because he lost the Universal Championship to Reigns after Reigns attacked him two years ago at SummerSlam, where he retained against Braun Strowman. Wyatt did hint at a fresh start before he left. All WWE has to do is let him in.

1.) Bayley

Bayley will return at SummerSlam to attack Bianca Belair after she retains the title against Becky Lynch if the aforementioned Ripley does not return in time. The last time the WWE fans saw Bayley was when she was scheduled to battle Belair for the title. However, she had an unforeseen ACL injury that took her out of action and hindered her from capitalizing on her title opportunity at MITB 2021. Bayley can run it back with Belair so that they can finally have their title match.
