With WWE talent relations and creative direction under Triple H’s control, it’s apparent that there are changes on the way. SummerSlam and Monday Night Raw were both well improved when compared to recent content with Vince McMahon at the helm and they received strong responses from fans. Along with the women’s division, Triple H must take the time to rebuild both the men’s and women’s tag team divisions.

It’s long been said that McMahon was not a fan of tag team wrestling. In past generations, tag team wrestling played an important part in WWE, but that has not been the case as of late. Whether it was splitting up teams for any reason, or repeating matches between the same two or three groups repeatedly, tag team wrestling was not as important as fans wanted it to be. However, the division proves it has a place in the industry. Just look at the reception that FTR or The Young Bucks receive for their excellent work each time they step into the ring. It’s time for WWE to put that same emphasis on the divisions.

One area in which it has an advantage over AEW is with its women’s tag team division. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance picked up the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship on WWE NXT and they are the perfect duo that can be used to highlight women’s tag teams across the entire promotion. Now is the time to create an angle where those belts replace the titles vacated by Sasha Banks and Naomi, allowing them to travel between brands and put the belts on display.

However, this would call for a recommitment to women’s tag teams. Too many groups were thrown together, just to be split up weeks later. As the singles division is strengthened on Raw and SmackDown, there are still additional names that can be placed in well-built teams to help bolster that division over time.

The men’s group needs work as well. The Usos continue their run of dominance alongside Roman Reigns, but they are running out of adequate challengers, even though there are several teams on the roster. It will be interesting to see if groups like The Viking Raiders or Los Lotharios become actual contenders, but the talent is there to craft a division that can steal shows with excellent tag team wrestling. Plus, The Creed Brothers, Legado del Fantasma, the duo formerly known as The Grizzled Young Veterans, Pretty Deadly, and more are waiting in the wings in NXT.

WWE has a wealth of tag team talent ready to get their time to shine. Triple H is showing signs that he’s prepared to do what fans have asked for in recent years. One thing that must be on his list is putting some focus back on tag team wrestling.
