Three feuds to help elevate Montez Ford as a singles star

If Montez Ford is going to become a main event star, these three feuds will help him get there.

The seeds are being put in place for the eventual Street Profits split. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins are two of the most beloved acts on the WWE roster, but there’s three constants in professional wrestling: heat, the ref bump, and a tag team splitting up. Ford is expected to be the one to get the rocket strapped to his back and if that happens, he’ll need top feuds to help him reach that point. With that in mind, here are three ideas for individuals for Ford to battle as he becomes a main event star.

Mustafa Ali

Montez Ford and Mustafa Ali could create some excellent matches if paired together. In a world where in-ring performance has a prominent place in the presentation of the WWE product, these two individuals would shine if given the opportunity to work together. Ali presents well as a babyface and seeing him having to deal with the antics of a heel Ford would elevate both men along the way. Give these two men a few weeks to build to a PPV, couple that with 12-15 minutes, and sit back to enjoy the artistry.

AJ Styles

AJ Styles is a main-event player for the WWE. At any moment he could be put in a title story and fans would buy into that idea. While he hasn’t been leveraged in that spot for a while, his value on the roster is always presented well. This is why he and Ford would work well together in a long-term angle. They can both deliver a promo and the matches would be among the best WWE has to offer. Booking him against Styles is a sure bet to get Ford into the main event picture.

Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley versus Montez Ford for the WWE United States Championship is the mid-card feud that would push Ford into stardom. Lashley is a monster, one that could easily be in the main title picture whenever WWE feels like it. Getting a win over him is an important accolade for anyone on the roster. Having him and Ford battle it out and seeing Ford get the victory, picking up his first singles title is the exact way the WWE could establish him as a top-level threat in the future.
