There are a lot of talented professionals on the WWE roster. No one, not even the hardest fanatic of another organization can deny that. Yet, there are some that fans want to see shine in the spotlight more than others. Montez Ford is such an individual. WWE has a massive opportunity in the development of his career. If the promotion is up to the task.

Every time Ford is on the screen there’s a prevailing thought that overtakes much of wrestling Twitter. It’s the idea that fans, personalities, and even colleagues alike recognize he has a knack for what makes this industry. He has a massive personality, understands how to work the crowd, and is a capable performer in the ring. Six years into his career as a professional wrestler and Ford has already been tagged as a star of the future.

The intriguing part of the equation is when WWE gets to that point. Right now, Ford and Angelo Dawkins are a prominent part of the WWE tag team division. Even though that doesn’t amount to much because of WWE’s disinterest in quality booking throughout the division, the team still gets a strong reaction from fans any time they are in action. Plus, Dawkins continues to improve in his own right – making this team a much stronger attraction.

There’s money in another long run for The Street Profits as tag team champions. Their first run with the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship, then the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship (after trading with The New Day), exceeded 300 days. Seeing them get another run would be accepted by fans, especially if WWE puts some onus into the strong booking of the tag division like they’ve done with Team RK-Bro.

But back to the idea of Ford as a singles star. Should he play the underdog babyface? Perhaps as the one to finally unseat Roman Reigns from atop the men’s division? Or what about the conniving heel, looking out for his best interests above all else? The best part is that Ford would excel in either fashion. He is currently playing the babyface and has done so well throughout his WWE run. Imagine him taking on the role of the “new face” of WWE with a massive chip on his shoulder. The possibilities are nearly endless.

WWE cannot wait to make this happen. While both Kofi Kingston and Bobby Lashley finally reached a career achievement in recent years, this came after career-long runs within the company. And outside the company for Lashley’s sake. WWE should not wait exceptionally long to elevate Ford into the main event scene. Fans are waiting for and longing to see this happen sooner, rather than later. Leaving that money on the table would be an easily avoidable misstep.

The WWE Universe has rallied around Bianca Belair as the new face of the women’s division. Her star has the potential to reach the highest of highs if properly booked and treated as such. The same could be said about Montez Ford. He has all the tools to get the job done. WWE needs to take the steps to begin this build with the payoff that fans are already behind.
